Braxton Berrios - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Appointed to Giants roster The Giants signed Berrios off their practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact After failing to win a spot on the Giants' roster coming out of preseason, Berrios re-signed with the organization as a member of the practice squad. The Giants elevated him from the practice squad ahead of each of their first three games, with Berrios going with a target over 22 snaps on offense but holding a critical role on special teams as the team's kickoff and punt returner. With the Giants releasing Odell Beckham on Tuesday, Berrios will now be awarded a permanent spot on the 53-man roster.

Reverts to Big Blue's practice squad Berrios reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact Berrios played five offensive snaps and seven special-teams snaps in the contest, returning two punts for 12 yards and two kicks for 57 yards. The wide receiver has been the primary returner for the Giants through the first three games of the 2026 regular season, but is now out of active roster elevations. If the team wants Berrios to play returner in Sunday's matchup with the Cardinals, they will need to sign the 30-year-old to the active roster.

Elevated for Sunday's game The Giants elevated Berrios from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Impact The Giants have elected to expend Berrios' last practice squad elevation after calling upon the wide receiver for three consecutive weeks. The 30-year-old remains the team's primary kick and punt returner, receiving no targets but recording 81 kick-return yards over the past two games. Berrios will need to be signed to the active roster to participate in any more regular-season games for the Giants after Week 3.

Heading back to practice squad Berrios reverted to the Giants' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Impact Berrios played only five of the Giants' 58 offensive snaps in Monday's loss, but he was more involved on special teams, recording two fair catches on punts and two kick returns for a total of 53 yards. The Giants can elevate him once more this season before they'd have to sign him to their 53-man roster in order to have him suit up.

Elevated for MNF The Giants elevated Berrios from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Monday night's game against the Rams, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Impact Berrios will be up from the practice squad for a second consecutive week and is expected to serve as a returner for the Giants on both punts and kickoffs. He played 18 snaps (12 on offense, six on special teams) during the Giants' Week 1 win over the Cowboys, when he returned one kickoff for 28 yards while calling two fair catches on punts.

Shifts back to practice squad Berrios reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, according to the NFL's official transaction log.

Impact The wide receiver saw action on 12 offensive snaps and six special-teams snaps in New York's 28-20 win over Dallas on Sunday night, making two fair catches on punts and returning one kickoff for 28 yards. He was elevated for the game primarily to serve as a return specialist. It remains to be seen if Berrios will stay in that role, though he has played it consistently across an eight-year NFL career.

Gets elevated from practice squad The Giants elevated Berrios from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Impact Berrios was among New York's roster cuts on Aug. 30, but he found himself back on the team's practice squad one day later, with an expectation that he'd have a Week 1 role. If Malik Nabers (knee) is inhibited or not able to suit up Sunday night, Berrios could be a factor on offense, but his most likely path to snaps is as a returner, as he's averaged 24.9 yards per kick return and 11.3 yards per punt return during his seven-year career.

Rejoining Giants on practice squad Berrios is re-signing with the Giants' practice squad, and there's an expectation that he'll play a role Week 1, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Berrios was among the Giants' notable cuts Sunday as the team rolled with just five wide receivers on its initial active roster. Now, front offices across the NFL are constructing practice squads, with Berrios expected to end up back in New York. He'll need to be elevated or signed off the practice squad outright to be available for the season opener against the Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 13, at which point he'd likely take on a bit role in the offense.

Released by New York The Giants released Berrios on Sunday, but the team intends to bring him back for Week 1 action, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Berrios was brought in by the Giants in the middle of the offseason program when a number of serious injuries beset the receiving corps. He ended up making it all the way to cut-down day before getting dismissed, but New York appears poised to add him back, whether it's on the active roster or practice squad, before the season opener.

Forgettable outing in preseason finale Berrios (undisclosed) caught one of four targets for 15 yards and lost a fumble in Friday's 23-6 preseason win over the Jets. He also had a 10-yard punt return.

Impact Berrios returned to action after missing the Giants' previous preseason game due to what coach John Harbaugh termed a soft-tissue injury. The veteran WR struggled on offense, losing a fumble on the Jets' four-yard line at the end of his only catch and failing to come down with three other targets. If Berrios makes the 53-man roster, it will be due primarily to his capabilities as a return man on special teams rather than his contributions as a receiver.
