Filling reserve role Williamson is expected to serve as the backup to Robert Spillane after being acquired by the Steelers on Sunday, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact Williamson recorded nine tackles Sunday afternoon for the Jets against the Chiefs and was shipped to the Steelers by the end of the day. The 28-year-old totaled 59 tackles through seven games this season, but he'll be filling a reserve role for his new team. He may not be available for Week 9 since he won't be allowed to join the team until Saturday due to the COVID-19 restrictions when heading to a new team.

Once he gets acclimated to his new surroundings, Williamson figures to slide into a starting inside linebacker role for the Steelers. Impact Williamson has 24 tackles in the last two games. New York's defense will likely spend the majority of the game on the field in Week 8 against the Chiefs, which should give the veteran inside linebacker plenty of opportunities to pad his tackle total.

Impact Williamson played well once again, but few of his teammates on either side of the ball can say the same. The 28-year-old inside linebacker seems to be fully recovered from last year's ACL surgery, as Williamson now has 34 tackles, an interception and three passes defensed in his last four games.

Impact Williamson was effective against both the run and the pass, but his effort went for naught, as the Jets fell to 0-5. He picked off Kyler Murray at Arizona's 31-yard line and returned it all the way to the 10, only to watch New York settle for a field goal to make it 7-3 Cardinals at the time. That's as close as the Jets would get the rest of the way. After working his way back from injury in a sheltered role to start the season, Williamson has come on with 23 tackles in the last three games.
