Out another week
Brown (ankle) is out for Sunday's game in Washington, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Impact
A third straight absence leaves Tyler Johnson with another shot to step in as the No. 3 receiver, or perhaps even a shot at the No. 2 role if Chris Godwin (foot) isn't able to play. Godwin appears headed for a 'questionable' designation on the final injury report, while coach Bruce Arians left the door open for Scotty Miller (toe) to be activated from IR. It's not quite clear how it'll all shake out, but it is clear Brown will be out of the equation for at least one more game. He did ditch his walking boot this week, perhaps setting the stage for a return to practice next week ahead of a Monday night matchup with the Giants on Nov. 2.

Doesn't practice Thursday
Brown (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
Impact
Per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com, Brown ditched his walking boot for the first time since injuring his ankle Oct. 14 and was seen catching passes from a JUGS machine off to the side during the open portion of Thursday's practice, but he was unable to mix into even individual drills. Meanwhile, Chris Godwin (foot) also missed a second straight session, leaving the Buccaneers with just three healthy wide receivers (Mike Evans, Tyler Johnson and Jaelon Darden) on the active roster. Friday's injury report could shed light on the state of the group as the Bucs prepare for Sunday's visit to Washington, but Brown doesn't seem to be trending toward a return to the lineup for that contest.

Not practicing yet
Brown (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, but he is doing some side work with the training staff, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Brown's absence comes as no surprise after coach Bruce Arians revealed Monday that the wideout was still using a walking boot. Another practice absence hints at Brown missing a third straight game Sunday against Washington, though he will have two more chances to get back on the practice field before the end of the week. Tyler Johnson filled in as the No. 3 receiver for the final two games before Tampa's Week 9 bye, catching seven of eight targets for 91 yards while playing 67 and 64 percent of snaps.

Still in walking boot
Coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Brown (ankle) still is wearing a walking boot, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Impact
The Buccaneers were optimistic that Brown would be able to return following their Week 9 bye, but his status appears to be in jeopardy because he's been unable to shed his boot. The 33-year-old's availability for Sunday's matchup against Washington should come into focus based on his participation level in practice this week.

Should be back after Week 9 bye
Brown (ankle) remains out for Sunday's game against the Saints, but the Buccaneers are expected to have him available following their Week 9 bye, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network report...
Impact
Though the Buccaneers have attributed an ankle injury to Brown missing his second straight game this weekend, Rapoport relays that the wideout is also tending to foot and heel issues as well. With the benefit of an additional week to rest while Tampa Bay is on bye, Brown looks on track to be ready to go for the Bucs' Week 10 game at Washington on Nov. 14. With Scotty Miller (toe) also on injured reserve through the bye week, the Buccaneers will turn to Tyler Johnson to once again serve as their No. 3 receiver Sunday behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Ruled out for Sunday
Brown (ankle) will not play in Sunday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Impact
While he waited until Friday to officially rule Brown out, coach Bruce Arians did discuss the injury Wednesday, saying that the 33-year-old wideout was facing an uncertain recovery timeline due to a sprain near his heel. With a bye right ahead in Week 9, the Bucs never figured to rush Brown back for Sunday's game. He'll instead aim for Week 10 against Washington or Week 11 against the Giants, presumably, while Tyler Johnson again figures to fill in as the No. 3 receiver this Sunday in New Orleans.

Impact
While he hasn't officially ruled Brown out for this weekend, Arians did acknowledge the potential for a long-term absence, and he didn't mention Brown's name Monday when he was asked which injured players might return for Sunday's game in New Orleans. Everything points to a second straight absence for the 33-year-old wideout, especially with a bye coming up for the Bucs in Week 9. They'll then face Washington in Week 10 and the Giants in Week 11, with Arians' recent comments suggesting Brown is no lock to be ready by then. Tyler Johnson filled in as Tampa's No. 3 receiver with 67 percent of snaps in the Week 7 rout of Chicago, but he was targeted just twice, and he could drop to No. 4 on the depth chart before Brown returns if Scotty Miller (IR/toe) makes it back first.

Not practicing, using crutch
Brown (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, instead observing the session while leaning on a crutch, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
If you're looking for cause for optimism, Brown reportedly has one crutch rather than two, suggesting he doesn't necessarily need them to move around. However, this is obviously a bad sign for his Week 8 availability, with the Bucs heading to New Orleans on Sunday after drubbing the Bears without Brown's help in Week 7. Tyler Johnson filled in as the No. 3 receiver against Chicago, catching both of his targets for 16 yards on 67 percent of snaps.
