Impact Kamara averaged just 1.9 yards per carry against a tough San Francisco defensive front but was excellent yet again as a receiver while leading the team in targets, catches and receiving yards. He scored two short touchdowns in the second quarter and later added another to give him 11 for the season. Although Kamara hasn't been quite as effective with his rushes this season as he has in years past, his efficacy as a pass catcher and near the goal line has him among the top fantasy running backs. He could take on an even larger role in the coming weeks if Drew Brees (ribs) is sidelined, with his next chance to do so coming Sunday against the Falcons.

Impact The Saints went up big on the Buccaneers early and did not look back. Drew Brees spread the ball around to a career-high 12 receivers, which is part of the reason Kamara only received 14 touches. The lopsided game script allowed New Orleans to milk the clock in the second half, and they used the bruising Latavius Murray (10 carries for 39 yards) to accomplish that while keeping Kamara healthy. The 25-year-old was averaging 10.1 receptions per game prior to Sunday's contest, but the return of star wideout Michael Thomas (five receptions for 51 yards) could cut into the dual-threat back's target share down the stretch. That said, Kamara will remain a focal part of New Orleans' offense both as a rusher and a receiving threat out of the backfield heading into a soft matchup against the 49ers on Sunday.

He later clarified the reason for his limited practice, telling John Sigler of USA Today, "You ever stub your toe on the corner of a bedpost or something?" By elevating to a full participant one day later, Kamara has proved that the issue isn't serious and should be ready for his usual volume Sunday at Tampa Bay, whose Bucs contained him to a season-low 67 yards from scrimmage to go with two TDs back in Week 1.
