Impact Newton has logged just one minute for the Timberwolves since being claimed off waivers on Jan. 3. However, the 23-year-old guard should continue to receive increased playing time in the G League.

Impact Newton is coming off a 13-point performance in the Wolves' 132-113 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Saturday. Newton last saw NBA action Dec. 1 against the Grizzlies, when he played two minutes off the bench and recorded one steal.

Headed to Minnesota The Timberwolves claimed Newton off waivers Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Impact Newton had spent most of the season in the G League with the Indiana Mad Ants, where he averaged 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists over 36.1 minutes per game. He was waived by the Pacers on Wednesday, but the rookie second-round pick will now head to Minnesota where he will likely spend time with their G League affiliate Iowa Wolves.

Waived by Indiana The Pacers waived Newton on Wednesday, Tony East of Forbes reports.

Impact Indiana has decided to move on from Newton. The 23-year-old was drafted out of UConn by the Pacers with the 49th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Newton averaged 1.6 minutes in the five games he played for the team this season before being waived.

Scores 17 points in SL Newton logged 17 points (3-9 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-10 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 27 minutes of Saturday's 100-93 loss to the Cavaliers in Summer League.

Impact Newton took on a larger offensive role with Jonny Furphy, Ben Sheppard and Jarace Walker sitting out. While he struggled from long range, Newton had no troubles getting to the basket and drawing fouls, attempting a game-high 10 free throws. A second round pick in the 2024 NBA draft, Newton isn't expected to see regular action with the Pacers as a rookie.
