Reports: Tari Eason re-signs with Rockets on 5-year deal Mutiple news outlets reported Thursday that power forward Tari Eason is re-signing with the Rockets on a 5-year deal.

Staying with Rockets Eason agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million deal (fully guaranteed) to remain in Houston, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Impact Eason was selected by the Rockets with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Since then, the 25-year-old appeared in 221 regular-season games for Houston, averaging 10.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 blocks and 1.3 steals over 23.6 minutes. Eason was on the radar of a few teams around the NBA, especially the Lakers. However, he will remain in Houston, where he will likely see most of his minutes off the bench. Eason isn't the most consistent scorer. Injuries have also been an issue. Still, he has value due to his prowess on the defensive side of the ball, which should come in handy for a Rockets team looking to win a championship.

With Houston eliminated from postseason play, the 24-year-old will now turn his attention toward restricted free agency. Eason averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 blocks and 1.2 steals across 25.8 minutes per game during the 2025-26 campaign. However, he logged only 60 games. With 139 appearances combined in the last three seasons, Eason will need to prove he can stay healthy. While the 2022 No. 17 overall pick should continue to hold a stable role in the rotation with the Rockets, assuming he re-signs, the lack of consistency is something fantasy managers will need to consider moving ahead.
