Sees dip during Harden's debut
Merrill closed Saturday's 132-126 victory over the Kings with two points (0-6 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists in 24 minutes.
Impact
Although Merrill's shot was off, his low total could be a sign of things to come for the sixth-year pro, who seems less comfortable at the wing. Although the Cavs possess a strong rotation, Evan Mobley's absence has required more interior support from Jaylon Tyson, who should end up as the top option at the position. Dean Wade (ankle) is probably a better answer right now, and the team may go in that direction when Wade returns. Fortunes will diminish even further when Mobley rejoins the rotation.

Drills six three-pointers in win
Merrill finished Sunday's 130-111 victory over the Trail Blazers with 22 points (7-9 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 29 minutes.
Impact
Merrill took care of business beyond the arc during the win, with the bulk of his shot attempts coming from the perimeter. Sunday marked Merrill's first decent performance since returning from a six-game absence, and the opportunity for decent production is apparent while Darius Garland (toe) is out. The recent acquisitions of Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis may have some impact on Merrill's involvement later in the season, but his role is steady for now.

Muted impact in return
Merrill (hand) closed Wednesday's 129-99 victory over the Lakers with four points (1-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists, one rebound and one block across 24 minutes.
Impact
Merrill returned from a six-game absence due to a right hand sprain and immediately stepped into the starting five with Darius Garland (toe) and Evan Mobley (calf) sidelined. Merrill put up a season-low four shot attempts and failed to score in double figures for the sixth time this season. On a more positive note, the sharpshooter's four assists were his most since Dec. 23, when he dished out seven in a win over New Orleans.

Available and starting
Merrill (hand) is available and in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.
Impact
Merrill is finishing a six-game absence with a sprained right hand Wednesday, filling the void in the first unit left behind by the injured Evan Mobley (calf). Across his last seven appearances as a starter, Merrill has averaged 16.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 27.5 minutes per game.

Likely to play Wednesday
Merrill is probable for Wednesday's game against the Lakers with a sprained right hand.
Impact
Merrill had missed six consecutive contests due to the sprain before being ruled out for personal reasons ahead of Monday's win over Orlando. With Evan Mobley (calf) out of action, Merrill is an option to jump into the first unit. The sharpshooter has averaged 15.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 4.2 three-pointers in 25.4 minutes per tilt in his last six games.

Out for personal reasons
Merrill is out for Monday's game against the Magic for personal reasons.
Impact
The sharpshooter had missed six consecutive contests due to a right hand sprain, though it remains unclear if he's overcome the injury. With De'Andre Hunter (knee) questionable, Craig Porter and Dean Wade are candidates to soak up extra minutes Monday.

Iffy for Monday
Merrill (hand) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Magic.
Impact
Merrill is in jeopardy of missing his sixth consecutive contest due to a right hand sprain. If the sharpshooter isn't cleared to play, Jaylon Tyson, Tyrese Proctor and Craig Porter would be candidates for increased playing time.

Not available Saturday
Merrill (hand) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Magic.

Progressing, not ready to play

Impact
Merrill thus appears likely sit out fifth consecutive game Saturday in Orlando, but he doesn't look as though he'll be at risk of missing as much time as he did earlier in the season, when he was sidelined for a month due to the same injury. In the recent absences of Merrill and Darius Garland (toe), the Cavaliers have been able to open up more minutes for the likes of Jaylon Tyson, Dean Wade, Craig Porter and Larry Nance.

Out for Wednesday
Merrill (hand) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game in Charlotte.
Impact
This will be the third consecutive game on the inactive list for Merrill, and his minutes will continue to be divvied up amongst Jaylon Tyson, Lonzo Ball and Tyrese Proctor. Merrill's next chance to play will come Friday against the Kings, but with that game being the first of a back-to-back set, we would consider Merrill doubtful for that one.

Not playing Monday
Merrill (hand) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Thunder.
Impact
Merrill will be sidelined for a second straight game due to a right hand sprain. He can be considered day-to-day for now, so his next chance to play is Wednesday against the Hornets. Lonzo Ball and Craig Porter should continue to see more minutes off the bench for as long as Merrill is out of action.
