Sam Hauser News, Rumors, Updates - Boston Celtics

Scores 11 off bench Hauser chipped in 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist across 18 minutes during Tuesday's 121-113 loss to Detroit.

Impact Hauser provided efficient perimeter scoring off Boston's bench, knocking down three of his five attempts from beyond the arc without committing a turnover. He finished with a plus-five rating despite the loss, though his 18-minute workload suggests his fantasy contributions will depend heavily on three-point shooting rather than consistent opportunities in other categories.

4 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Expected to suit up Tuesday Hauser (rest) is expected to play in Tuesday's game against Detroit.

Impact Hauser didn't play in Friday's 125-120 preseason overtime win over Philadelphia, though that was the case with most of the team's core performers. The 28-year-old averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists, all career highs, in 78 regular-season games, including 49 starts, during the 2025-26 campaign. Hauser could be in line for an even better season, especially if Paul George, Jayson Tatum, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard miss time.

Not playing Friday Hauser (rest) is not suiting up for Friday's preseason game against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact Hauser and other prominent Celtics players, like Jayson Tatum, Paul George and Derrick White, will rest for Friday's preseason finale. The Celtics will open their regular season Tuesday against the Pistons, and Hauser is once again expected to operate in a rotational role off the bench, though he'll be competing against the likes of Jordan Walsh, Baylor Scheierman (rest), Hugo Gonzalez and Ron Harper for playing time.

OCTOBER 16 • ROTOWIRE

Available Saturday Hauser (rest) is available for Saturday's preseason contest against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Impact Hauser didn't play in the preseason win over the Cavaliers on Thursday, but he'll be able to log minutes off the bench in this contest. Hauser has a strong grip on a rotation spot, and a strong showing in preseason could boost his chances to earn consistent playing time once the regular season starts. He's projected to open the season as the backup small forward behind Paul George.

More three-point attempts coming Hauser's role could become more secure following Boston's offseason shakeup with the team swapping Jaylen Brown for Paul George, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.

Impact While Paul George is expected to absorb most of Jaylen Brown's minutes, George's recent durability concerns may create additional opportunities for Hauser on the wing throughout the season. Hauser should continue to provide elite three-point shooting, with his fantasy value receiving a boost whenever George requires maintenance days or misses time.
