Progresses to light 3-on-3 work Rubio (knee) took the floor for some light 3-on-3 work for the first time Thursday, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.

Impact Rubio reportedly has a doctor's appointment soon, which should reveal a bit more about where he's at in his recovery. He still appears to be a ways away from retaking the floor, but there are at least some minor signs of progress. Even when healthy, Rubio figures to be slowly integrated into the rotation.

Impact Rubio has been able to get individual on-court workouts done after practices, during shootarounds and before games, but the team is hoping that he'll be cleared for 3-on-3 work following his upcoming appointment. The point guard is 11 months removed from tearing his left ACL on Dec. 28, which marked the second time in his career that he had to undergo reconstructive surgery on that knee. Typically, an ACL surgery takes 10-to-12 months to recover from, but Cleveland isn't expected to rush the veteran back to game action and will want him to go through a handful of contract practices before thrusting him back into game action.

Returning to Cleveland Rubio (knee) and the Cavaliers agreed to terms Friday on a three-year, $18.4 million contract, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Impact Rubio was traded to the Pacers in February as part of the deal that sent Caris LeVert to the Cavaliers, but his contract expired, and he'll now rejoin the Cavs. In 34 games with Cleveland last season prior to tearing his ACL, Rubio averaged 13.1 points, 6.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 28.5 minutes per contest. The soon-to-be 32-year-old figures to operate as the primary backup to Darius Garland in 2022-23 once he's cleared to return from the injury.
