Struggles offensively in loss Washington accounted for eight points (3-13 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 0-0 FT), six rebounds and an assist across 27 minutes in Friday's 135-111 preseason loss to the Hawks.

Impact Washington endured a difficult offensive outing, converting just three of his 13 field-goal attempts while shooting a mere 25 percent from beyond the arc. His six rebounds provided some production outside the scoring column, but this wasn't a good ending to the preseason. That said, Washington's ability to contribute across multiple categories remains valuable for fantasy purposes, though his shooting consistency will be worth monitoring once the regular season begins against the Rockets on Oct. 21.

As a starter last season (53 games), Washington averaged 14.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.

Dealing with ankle injury Washington won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Rockets.

Impact The severity of Washington's ankle injury is unclear, but his next chance to suit up will come during Sunday's rematch against the Rockets in China. The veteran forward is expected to have a key role for the Mavs heading into the 2026-27 season, though coach Dusty May isn't ready to commit to the Kentucky product as a mainstay in the starting five.
