Bones Hyland News, Rumors, Updates - Minnesota Timberwolves

Gearing up for regular season Hyland (rest) is expected to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.

Impact Hyland was one of many Timberwolves regulars who sat out the preseason finale, though he should play Wednesday. The 26-year-old guard averaged 8.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game across 71 regular-season appearances (three starts) in 2025-26.

Not available Friday Hyland (rest) won't play in Friday's preseason game against Chicago, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports.

Impact Hyland will receive Friday night off, joining several other key players on the inactive list for Minnesota. Isaiah Evans and Zyon Pullin will both likely see a significant bump in minutes Friday.

Drains five triples Saturday Hyland finished Saturday's 125-124 preseason win over the Heat with 23 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals over 21 minutes.

Impact Hyland was moved into the Timberwolves' starting five due to the absences of both Anthony Edwards (rest) and LaMelo Ball (rest). Hyland answered the call by leading Minnesota in points, with most of his damage coming from beyond the arc. The sixth-year pro averaged 16.6 minutes per game while mostly operating in a bench role last season, but Hyland could see a bump in playing time given that Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) will be out for most, if not all, of the 2026-27 season.

6 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Starting Saturday Hyland is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason matchup with the Heat.

Impact Terrence Shannon, Jaylen Clark, Trey Lyles and Joan Beringer will join Hyland in the first unit for Saturday's exhibition. The Timberwolves are sitting out seven players, so Hyland could see quality minutes Saturday.

Drops 10 points off bench Hyland closed with 10 points (3-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one assist, one steal and one block in 11 minutes during Wednesday's 123-112 preseason loss to the Pacers.

Impact Hyland was used sparingly off the bench, although he did make the most of his time on the floor, ending as one of five Minnesota players to score double digits. Despite a proven ability to score the basketball, it would appear as though Hyland could struggle to carve out a meaningful role this season. At best, he should be on the streaming radar if and when those ahead of him in the rotation are struck down with injury or illness.

Re-signs with Minnesota Hyland re-signed with the Timberwolves on a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, according to Dane Moore of 'The Dane Moore NBA Podcast'.

Impact Hyland stated that he wanted to return to Minnesota after the Game 6 loss to the Spurs on May 15, and he got his wish in a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum. Hyland should have a bench role in Minnesota's rotation in 2026-27, but he shouldn't have a lot of minutes competing for a lesser role in a backcourt led by Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Hyland averaged 16.6 minutes while putting up 8.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per tilt across 71 regular-season contests.
