Plans to re-sign with New York Diawara agreed to a multi-year contract with the Knicks on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Impact Charania reports that the deal is expected to be worth at least $10 million, though the contract details have not yet been disclosed. Diawara saw an inconsistent role during his rookie campaign, stepping up when injuries arose. Across 69 regular-season games (seven starts), the 21-year-old forward averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per tilt.

Wraps up rookie campaign Diawara appeared in 69 regular-season games (seven starts) in 2025-26, averaging 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists across 9.2 minutes per contest.
Impact Diawara finished the season with a DNP-CD in all five games of the NBA Finals, and he appeared in only six games during the playoffs. The 21-year-old forward saw brief stretches of increased playing time, especially when Miles McBride missed 27 consecutive contests from Jan. 28 to March 26 due to sports hernia surgery. During that span, Diawara averaged 5.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 40.5 percent from deep in 14.2 minutes per game.

Impact Prior to Monday, Diawara had received playing time in all but one of the Knicks' first 23 games coming out of the All-Star break, averaging 5.2 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 three-pointers in 12.4 minutes per contest. However, following the recent returns of Landry Shamet and Miles McBride from long-term absences, the Knicks are now back to full strength and no longer appear to have room in the rotation for the rookie second-round draft pick. Diawara could get extended run at some point over the final three games of the regular season if the Knicks' playoff positioning is locked in and multiple key players end up getting rested, but the 20-year-old forward's appearances will likely be limited to garbage-time scenarios once the postseason gets underway.

Impact Diawara didn't have a lot of touches on offense, but he certainly made his presence felt in this 19-minute cameo off the bench. However, these numbers won't be enough to make Diawara relevant in most fantasy formats. He's scored in double digits in just two of his 11 appearances off the bench in March, a stretch in which he's averaging 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 14.9 minutes per contest.

Impact Diawara had 10 points in the recent victory over Utah. With Karl-Anthony Towns (knee), Josh Hart (knee) and Jeremy Sochan (illness) out Friday, he had an opportunity to benefit offensively. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, with the 20-year-old shooting just 22.2 percent from the field while failing to drain any of his attempts from behind the arc. If Towns, Hart and Sochan remain sidelined, Diawara might continue to see more action than usual moving ahead. However, that could change if he doesn't turn things around on both ends of the floor.
