Mo Bamba News, Rumors, Updates - Utah Jazz

Joins New Orleans Bamba and the Pelicans agreed to a 10-day contract Monday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

Impact After a brief stint with the Clippers to begin the 2024-25 season, Bamba has since been feasting in the G League for the Birmingham Squadron, posting averages of 21.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 blocks. The Pelicans don't have much to play for at this point in the season, so it would make sense for them to give Bamba an opportunity to impress in the frontcourt.

Let go by Utah The Jazz waived Bamba on Sunday, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Impact The Jazz will part ways with the big man to open up a roster spot for Jalen Hood-Schifino, whom the club acquired from the Lakers on Saturday via trade. Bamba will likely be a candidate to join a club lacking frontcourt depth, and in 28 regular-season appearances with the Clippers this year, he had averaged 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12.6 minutes per contest.

Impact Bamba has received inconsistent playing time for the Clippers this season, logging just five total minutes across the team's previous four outings. The 26-year-old center is averaging 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12.6 minutes across 28 appearances in 2024-25. However, Bamba has shown the ability to space the floor and protect the rim, which could allow him to compete for backup center minutes behind Walker Kessler in Utah.

Not starting vs. Wizards Bamba is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Wizards.

Impact Bamba started in the Clippers' last two games, but he'll return to his regular second-unit role here since Ivica Zubac (eye) is back in action. Bamba has played off the bench in 24 of his 26 appearances this season, averaging 4.2 points and 4.3 rebounds across 12.5 minutes per game in those instances.

Serviceable results in spot start Bamba amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and seven rebounds across 15 minutes during Monday's 112-99 loss to the Bulls.

Impact Making a spot start at the five for the Clippers on Monday, Bamba was serviceable during his 15 minutes of action in what was his first appearance with the first unit this year. The veteran big man did lose considerable center minutes to Nicolas Batum and Kobe Brown from Los Angeles' second unit, though. If Ivica Zubac is able to return from an eye injury in time for Wednesday's showdown with the Celtics, Bamba would certainly be slated to revert back to the bench.

Drawing first start of season Bamba is starting Monday's game against the Bulls, independent NBA writer Justin Russo reports.

Impact Bamba will get a look as the starting center after news broke earlier in the day that Ivica Zubac (eye) would be held out Monday. Bamba has been held to single-digit minutes in two of his last four appearances but should be in line for a longer look versus Chicago.

Notches efficient 12 points in loss Bamba ended with 12 points (5-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt) and eight rebounds in 16 minutes during Thursday's 116-98 loss to the Thunder.

Impact Bamba posted a season-high 12 points while also hitting a couple of three-pointers during an efficient outing. The 26-year-old also tied his season-best mark in rebounds. The big man has seen little playing time of late, as he has to compete with Nicolas Batum and Kai Jones for minutes behind Ivica Zubac. Over his last five outings, Bamba has averaged 3.2 points and 3.2 rebounds across 9.8 minutes per game.

JANUARY 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Fails to score in win Bamba finished with two rebounds and one block across 12 minutes during Friday's 102-92 win over the Warriors.

Impact Bamba continues to put together the worst season of his career, averaging 3.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 12.8 minutes per game. Playing behind one of the most consistent centers in the league, Bamba's opportunities have been few and far between. Should a meaningful role ever present itself, Bamba would then become a factor, at least on the defensive end of the floor.

DECEMBER 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Held without a point Bamba contributed zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound and three blocks in six minutes during Monday's 114-110 victory over Memphis.

Impact Ivica Zubac was considered questionable to play with a calf issue, but ended up producing a monster performance in 40 minutes. Bamba has shot-blocking upside, obviously, but the minutes just won't be there when Zubac is upright.

Good to go for Friday Bamba (knee) is available for Friday's game against Denver, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Impact Bamba sat out of Sunday's loss to the Rockets due to left knee injury management, though he'll suit up Friday after nearly a week of rest. The big man has averaged 3.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks across 13.2 minutes per contest over his last five outings.

Logs full practice Tuesday Coach Tyronn Lue said Bamba (knee) was a full participant during Tuesday's practice, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Impact Bamba didn't play Sunday against the Rockets due to left knee injury management, but he's on track to suit up Friday in Denver. He's logged double-digit minutes in eight of his last 10 appearances, averaging 13.6 minutes per game.

DECEMBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Ruled out Sunday Bamba (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rockets, Joey Linn of SI.com reports.

Impact Bamba will miss Sunday's matchup due to left knee injury management. The big man was held out of the club's first 13 games of the season, though before Sunday he had missed only one outing since. With Bamba sidelined, Kai Jones will likely see an uptick in playing time.

DECEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Iffy to play Sunday vs. Houston Bamba (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rockets, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Bamba has played in 10 of the Clippers' last 11 games, though he's still not 100 percent healthy from a left knee injury that had him sidelined for the first 13 games of the 2024-25 regular season. Ivica Zubac would be the Clippers' only healthy center Sunday if Bamba is sidleined, though Nicolas Batum and Amir Coffey could see additional playing time.

DECEMBER 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Swats three shots Bamba finished Tuesday's 127-105 victory over Portland with three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 17 minutes.

Impact Bamba has been limited to workloads with minutes in the teens as Ivica Zubac's backup, but he's made the most of them. He's been a terrific shot-blocking specialist in deeper formats, averaging 2.2 blocks in 15.3 minutes over his past five outings.

DECEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Cleared to play Wednesday Bamba (knee) is available for Wednesday's matchup against the Wizards, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Impact Bamba sat out Monday's loss to Boston -- the second half of a back-to-back -- due to left knee injury recovery. Following some rest, he's good to go Wednesday. He's seen double-digit minutes in each of his past three appearances, averaging 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks.

Questionable against Washington Bamba (knee) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Wizards, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Impact Bamba is in danger of missing his second straight contest Wednesday due to a left knee injury. If Bamba is ruled out against Washington, Kai Jones will likely serve as the team's backup center to Ivica Zubac.

NOVEMBER 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Ruled out Monday Bamba (rest) will not play Monday against the Celtics, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Impact Bamba will miss the second leg of this back-to-back set due to injury recovery. Nicolas Batum and Amir Coffey could be a bit more involved in smaller lineups with Bamba sidelined.

NOVEMBER 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Good to go Monday Bamba (knee) is available for Monday's game against the Warriors, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.

Impact Bamba will suit up for the second game of a back-to-back set, and he has now played in two straight outings after missing the rest of the season with a left knee injury. The big man will serve as Ivica Zubac's primary backup, though he only played 15 minutes in his return during Sunday's win over Utah.

NOVEMBER 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Iffy for Monday Bamba is questionable for Monday's game against the Warriors due to left knee recovery, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Bamba made his season debut Sunday, playing 15 minutes off the bench during a win over the Jazz. The big man said before Sunday's game that he doesn't anticipate having to miss time during back-to-back sets moving forward, but it's not surprising to see the Clippers exercise caution. If Bamba is ruled out, Kai Jones and Nicolas Batum would be candidates for increased roles.

NOVEMBER 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Serves as backup center in debut Bamba (knee) scored nine points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and added eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 15 minutes off the bench in Sunday's 116-105 win over the Jazz.

Impact Making his season debut after missing the Clippers' first 13 games while recovering from a left knee injury that dated back to the start of training camp, Bamba immediately settled in as the backup center behind Ivica Zubac. The Clippers had been cycling through a number of players as Zubac's primary backup, but the return of Bamba should bring some stability to the second unit. According to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com, Bamba said prior to Sunday's contest that he doesn't anticipate being held out for one half of back-to-back sets this season, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Clippers opted to take a cautious approach and hold him out for Monday's contest versus the Warriors. If Bamba isn't available Monday, the Clippers could turn to Kobe Brown, Kai Jones and/or Nicolas Batum to handle the backup center role.
