Racks up four steals in win
Smart recorded 10 points (3-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 110-101 victory over New Orleans.
Impact
Smart has excelled on the defensive end of the court in his last two games, racking up nine steals and three blocks in back-to-back wins. He also dished out seven dimes Tuesday, which is his best showing in the assist category since Jan. 2 against Memphis. Smart continues to have trouble contributing offensively, but he's at least producing at a high level on the opposite end.

Busy on defense in win
Smart had nine points (3-5 FG, 3-5 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and five steals over 25 minutes during Sunday's 128-104 win over the Kings.
Impact
The five steals were Smart's best performance on the defensive end since he racked up seven pilfers against the Hornets on Nov. 10. The veteran guard is having trouble finding ways to contribute for the Lakers -- he's scored in double digits only once in the last seven games, averaging 7.0 points, 2.6 assists, 2.1 boards, 1.6 steals and 1.3 threes in 26.4 minutes over that stretch.

Struggles vs. old team
Smart finished with zero points (0-7 FG, 0-5 3Pt), one rebound and four assists across 22 minutes during Sunday's 111-89 loss to the Celtics.
Impact
It was Smart's second time facing the Celtics, who drafted him with the sixth overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. He wasn't able to get it going offensively during Sunday's blowout loss, missing all seven of his field-goal attempts while failing to score any points for the second time this season. Most of Smart's value comes on the defensive side of the floor but the veteran guard is in the midst of a shooting slump, having gone 7-for-25 (28.0 percent) from the field over his last three outings.

Hands out six dimes
Smart amassed nine points (4-14 FG, 1-9 3Pt), two rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 26 minutes during Thursday's 124-104 victory over the Mavericks.
Impact
Smart was back in the lineup after missing Tuesday's game against the Spurs with right ankle soreness. His fantasy appeal is mostly limited to deeper formats, as he's averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.6 three-pointers in 28.4 minutes per contest heading into the All-Star break.

Cleared to face Mavs
Smart (ankle) is available for Thursday's game against the Mavericks.
Impact
Smart will be back in action Thursday after missing the closing leg of a back-to-back set Tuesday. He has started in 23 consecutive appearances, averaging 9.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals across 29.1 minutes during that stretch.

Won't play Tuesday
Smart will not play Tuesday against the Spurs due to right ankle soreness, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports.
Impact
This has the look of a maintenance day for the second leg of this back-to-back set -- Smart is one of a number of key players being held out. Luke Kennard, Nick Smith and Kobe Bufkin could see expanded roles with this news.

Hits for 19 points
Smart finished Monday's 119-110 loss to the Thunder with 19 points (7-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals over 29 minutes.
Impact
Smart put in solid work as Luka Donci's direct fill-in during the loss. His 19-point effort marked the veteran's third-highest scoring total of the season, and since his recent spike corresponds to Doncic's absence, we should see continued output from him while the team's offensive catalyst is sidelined.

Could see expanded role
Smart ended Thursday's 119-115 victory over the 76ers with seven points (2-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), four rebounds and five assists across 31 minutes.
Impact
Luka Doncic left Thursday's game early with hamstring soreness, putting Smart in a larger role at point guard for the Lakers. Doncic is set to receive further imaging, and If he misses upcoming contests, Smart could see increased minutes and responsibilities, boosting his involvement in the offense across multiple categories.

Steady play continues
Smart registered 12 points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal across 32 minutes during Monday's 129-118 victory over the Bulls.
Impact
With Austin Reaves (calf) nearing a return to the lineup, Smart is in danger of losing his starting job at shooting guard. The veteran guard has averaged 13.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 29.6 minutes per tilt in his last eight games, and Smart should still maintain a consistent role if he eventually winds up back on the bench.
