Contract expires Flynn became a free agent Tuesday after his 10-day contract with the Hornets expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Impact With KJ Simpson assigned to the G League's Greensboro Swarm and with the Hornets making another two-way guard in Damion Baugh in active for Monday's 105-102 win over the Heat, Flynn entered the rotation as the top backup to LaMelo Ball. The appearance was Flynn's fourth since he signed a 10-day deal, with the journeyman guard averaging 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 11.0 minutes per game in those outings. The Hornets will have the option of signing Flynn to a second 10-day deal, though it's not clear if they plan to do so.

Inks 10-day deal with Charlotte Flynn and the Hornets agreed to a 10-day contract Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Impact After spending his first three full seasons with the Toronto Raptors, Flynn was traded to the Knicks on Dec. 30, 2023. Since then, the former first-round draft pick has struggled to find a long-term home in the NBA, with a short stint with the Pistons and being waived by the Spurs. The 25-year-old guard will get another shot to prove himself in the league with Charlotte on a 10-day, which could result in ultimately getting signed for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign.

Impact For the first month after he was acquired Feb. 8 in a trade with the Knicks, Flynn was an inconsistent member of the Pistons' rotation, but his role has been trending upward of late while Detroit has held out several key players with injuries. Cade Cunningham (knee) was a late scratch Wednesday and joined six other Pistons in street clothes, and while Flynn didn't replace him in the starting five, Cunningham's absence paved the way for the San Diego State product to turn in what was far and away a career-best performance. Flynn nearly doubled up his previous career-best total of 27 points and became just the third reserve player in NBA history to reach the 50-point mark in a game, joining Jamal Crawford (51 for the Suns in 2019) and Nick Anderson (50 for the Magic in 1993). In addition to the big scoring night on efficient shooting, Flynn also set or matched his season highs in rebounds, assists and steals. Flynn will be in store for a role reduction if Cunningham is back for the Pistons' next game Friday in Memphis, but the huge performance certainly puts Flynn on the radar as a streaming option if Cunningham misses any contests over the final week and a half of the season.
