Double-doubles in preseason start Garza provided 22 points (6-17 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 10 rebounds, three blocks and two assists across 27 minutes in Thursday's 124-113 preseason win over Cleveland.

Impact With Neemias Queta (rest) and Mitchell Robinson (undisclosed) sidelined, Garza got the starting nod in Boston's preseason opener. The big man wasn't very efficient from the field, though he still led all players in scoring. He also paced all players in rebounds and finished second on the Celtics in blocks. Garza figures to serve as the Celtics' third-string center in 2026-27.

Starting preseason opener Garza will start Thursday's preseason game against Cleveland, Bobby Krivitsky of Forbes.com reports.

Impact The Celtics are expected to rest several rotation players Thursday, opening the door for Garza to step into the first unit. The 27-year-old center faces an uphill battle for steady minutes during the regular season.

Effective in limited run Garza recorded 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 FT) and seven rebounds in 16 minutes during Bosnia and Herzegovina's 78-76 win over Italy in Friday's FIBA World Cup qualifier.

Impact The 27-year-old is coming off a career-best 2025-26 campaign in which he averaged 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds during the regular season for Boston. Garza remains under contract with the Celtics for 2026-27, but his limited defensive versatility and competition for frontcourt minutes could make it difficult for him to carve out a large enough role to provide consistent fantasy value.

Goes scoreless in spot start Garza produced zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one block in nine minutes during Saturday's 109-100 loss to the 76ers in Game 7 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playof...

Impact Garza was elevated into the starting lineup, presumably to deal with the size of Joel Embiid. Although it may have made sense on the surface, Garza was simply no match for Embiid on either end of the floor and ended up playing just nine minutes. The Game 7 loss closes out what was an indifferent season for Garza. While he was mostly a part of the rotation, his role fluctuated, typically reliant on the availability of either Neemias Queta or Nikola Vucevic. In 15.5 minutes per game, he finished with averages of 7.7 points and 3.9 rebounds.

Not starting Game 1 Garza is not in the Celtics' lineup against the 76ers for Game 1 on Sunday.

Impact Garza started in Boston's regular-season finale against Orlando on April 12, when he played 38 minutes and finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal and three three-pointers in a 113-108 win. He will retreat to the bench for Sunday's contest and serve in a backup role behind Neemias Queta and Nikola Vucevic, though Garzamay have a hard time finding some playing time given that rotations tend to shrink for the playoffs.
