Landry Shamet News, Rumors, Updates - New York Knicks

Significant role in season opener Shamet totaled five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 106-100 loss to Philadelphia.

Impact After coming up big at times for the defending-champion Knicks during last year's playoff run, Shamet was rewarded in the season opener with the team's sixth-man role off the bench. If the veteran sharpshooter's minutes stick in the mid 20s on a steady basis, Shamet could offer some streaming appeal in fantasy leagues.

Notches 13 points in exhibition Shamet posted 13 points (3-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists, two rebounds and two steals across 24 minutes in Thursday's 122-120 preseason victory over Toronto.

Impact Shamet struggled from beyond the arc but compensated by attacking the basket and converting six free throws. He also made an impact defensively with two steals and finished without committing a turnover. The veteran guard provided New York with productive reserve minutes and will look to maintain a role in the team's backcourt rotation.

Sits out preseason loss Shamet (rest) didn't play in Tuesday's 148-98 preseason loss to the Raptors.

Impact New York presumably gave the veteran swingman Tuesday night off along with the rest of its routine starters. It's possible Shamet will be available for Thursday's meeting with Toronto for a final tune-up appearance.

Provides scoring spark off bench Shamet posted 13 points (4-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and four rebounds across 16 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 111-109 preseason loss to the Wizards.

Impact Shamet was one of New York's most efficient offensive contributors, knocking down a team-high three three-pointers while matching Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart for the team lead in scoring. The veteran sharpshooter also grabbed four defensive rebounds and finished with a plus-four rating, continuing to make a strong case for a steady role in the Knicks' backcourt rotation ahead of the regular season. He's competing with Miles McBride and Jose Alvarado for steady minutes in the backcourt behind the starting duo of Brunson and Mikal Bridges.

Hits double digits Shamet finished with 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt) in 11 minutes during Monday's 120-97 preseason loss to Philadelphia.

Impact Shamet provided a quick scoring punch off the bench and knocked down two of his five attempts from beyond the arc. The veteran guard should remain in the mix for reserve minutes on the wing, with his perimeter shooting being his primary path to playing time.
