Jrue Holiday News, Rumors, Updates - Portland Trail Blazers

Won't play Friday Holiday is out for Friday's preseason finale against the Warriors due to right hand soreness.

Impact The 36-year-old veteran will skip Portland's final exhibition game with some soreness in his shooting hand, but this shouldn't be anything that impacts his status for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Suns. With Holiday unavailable, expect more minutes for Scoot Henderson and Vit Krejci.

Struggles with shot from bench Holiday supplied 11 points ([4-11FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes during Tuesday's 110-98 preseason win over the Kings.

Impact Holiday's shot wasn't cooperating, but he still reached double figures. It will be a close call between Holiday and Ja Morant in deciding who will run alongside Damian Lillard in the first unit, but most expect Morant to edge out Holiday to start the season.

Not starting Tuesday Holiday won't start Tuesday's preseason game against the Kings, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.

Impact Holiday got the starting nod in Monday's blowout win over the London Lions, though he'll slide to the second unit in the second leg of this back-to-back set. Damian Lillard, Scoot Henderson, Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan will start against Sacramento.

Starts in lopsided win Holiday finished with six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists across 15 minutes in Monday's 119-66 preseason victory over the London Lions.

Impact The veteran point guard got the start in place of the resting Damian Lillard on Monday. Holiday is expected to handle a reserve role once the regular season begins, but he could still push to play 30 minutes per game while Shaedon Sharpe (knee) is on the shelf.

Not starting Wednesday Holiday won't start Wednesday's preseason game against the Warriors, Jason Quick of The Athletic reports.

Impact Holiday has been a full-time starter for most of his career, though he isn't guaranteed to begin the 2026-27 campaign in a starting role. The Trail Blazers will start Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, Toumani Camara, Deni Avdija and Donovan Clingan in their preseason opener.

To play more on wing Holiday is expected to spend more time on the wing this season, per Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN.com.

Impact The veteran point guard averaged 16.3 points and 6.1 assists per game last year, his most since 2022-23 with the Bucks, but Holiday is likely to see fewer ball-handling responsibilities now that Ja Morant and Damian Lillard are manning the backcourt. Toumani Camara is the favorite to start at small forward for Portland, but Holiday is positioned for a very significant role off the bench and is worthy of a late-round fantasy pick. He should remain a major threat from deep after hitting a career-high 2.6 three-pointers per game in 2025-26.
