Leads team with 19 points Alvarado registered 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt), four rebounds, four steals and two assists across 20 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 loss to the Celtics.

Impact After largely being excluded from the rotation through the first two-plus months of the season, Alvarado has wrested the backup point guard job from Tomas Satoransky since the calendar flipped to January. Not only has Alvarado played well enough to solidify his position on the second unit, but he could begin to eat into starter Devonte' Graham's minutes if he continues to play at a high level. Over his last five games -- including one contest in which Graham sat out due to injury -- Alvarado is averaging an impressive 9.6 points (on 50 percent shooting from the field), 2.6 assists, 2.4 steals, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 19.8 minutes. The two-way rookie from Georgia Tech has firmly put himself on the radar in 14-team leagues and deeper, and he could soon gain relevance in shallower formats if the Pelicans elect to de-prioritize Graham in the weeks to come.

It was the first time all season Alvarado played more than 20 minutes in a game, and his role for Friday's matchup with Denver will depend on the health of the Pelicans' starting backcourt.

Impact Alvarado is getting his first career start as the Pelicans deal with a myriad of injuries across the roster. He's earned the trust of the coaching staff lately and has played 10-plus minutes in 10 straight games. Per 36 minutes, he's averaging 11.9 points, 5.9 assists, 3.8 steals and 3.6 rebounds.

Impact Alvarado played 15 minutes off the bench in the victory but came away with some nice peripheral production. Garbage time was a factor here, but Alvarado is proving to be a name worth watching, at least in deeper formats. Nickeil Alexander-Walker (six points and one block in 21 minutes) has offered very little as the backup point guard, meaning Alvarado could be in line for a short-term boost in playing time.
