Waived by Bucks Butler was waived by the Bucks on Thursday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Impact The Bucks signed Butler to an Exhibit 10 deal Thursday, but it didn't take long for him to be waived. The decision was made likely to send him to the G League's Wisconsin Herd.
OCTOBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Signed by Bucks The Bucks signed Butler to an Exhibit 10 deal Thursday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Impact Butler was a G League standout during the 2024-25 season. Milwaukee's roster is already full, so Butler is expected to be waived so he can join the Wisconsin Herd in the G League.
OCTOBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Inks pact with Washington The Wizards signed Butler to an Exhibit 10 contract Sunday.
Impact Butler will join the club on a non-guaranteed deal, though he will likely end up with the club's G League affiliate -- the Capital City Go-Go -- for a second consecutive year. The 21-year-old hasn't played in an NBA game since the 2022-23 season with Portland, during which he averaged 2.4 points while shooting 32.1 percent from the field across 11.6 minutes per game in 19 regular-season appearances. Butler spent last season with the Go-Go, in which he averaged 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds across 19.5 minutes per game in 33 regular-season outings.
OCTOBER 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Gets two-way deal with Washington Butler agreed to a two-way contract with the Wizards on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Impact After getting cut loose by Portland following the conclusion of the preseason, Butler quickly caught on with another organization on a two-way pact. The seven-foot, 190-pound Butler was a two-way player with the Trail Blazers throughout the 2022-23 campaign, but he appeared in just 19 games at the NBA level, averaging 2.4 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 11.6 minutes per contest. The 20-year-old isn't projected to open the season as a member of Washington's rotation, but he should have a better chance at carving out a role in a Wizards frontcourt that's lacking in quality depth behind frontcourt starters Kyle Kuzma and Daniel Gafford.
OCTOBER 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Let go by Portland Butler was waived by the Trail Blazers on Friday, Sean Highkin of RoseGardenReport.com reports.
Impact Butler was waived in order to make room for Justin Minaya's two-way roster spot. Butler made 19 NBA appearances last season but will likely spend the 2023-24 campaign with the Trail Blazers' G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix.
OCTOBER 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Thursday Butler will move into the starting lineup for Thursday's game in San Antonio.
Impact Shaedon Sharpe (knee) is out, so Butler will replace him in the first unit and will be joined by Skylar Mays, Jeenathan Williams, Trendon Watford and Drew Eubanks. Butler will have a ton of opportunity Thursday evening, but he hasn't been terribly impressive since becoming a regular part of the rotation, posting averages of 4.2 points and 2.0 rebounds over the past five games.
APRIL 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Plays season-high 26 minutes Butler had three points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 26 minutes during Wednesday's 120-80 loss to the Kings.
Impact With a majority of Portland's regular sidelined, Butler cracked the rotation for a second straight game and finished with a season-high 26 minutes. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State figures to continue getting opportunities down the stretch, but he's unlikely to produce consistently enough to crack fantasy relevancy.
MARCH 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back with NBA team The Trail Blazers recalled Butler from the G League's Stockton Kings on Tuesday.
Impact Butler rejoins Portland following a six-game stint with Stockton in which he averaged 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 blocks in 24.0 minutes per game. The seven-foot big man will offer the Trail Blazers some depth in the frontcourt Tuesday against the Knicks, but he isn't a lock to be included in head coach Chauncey Billups' rotation.
MARCH 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Rare appearance in thumping win Butler provided no counting stats in one minute during Monday's 147-127 win over the Spurs.
Impact Butler made it onto the court for just the fifth time all season, an impressive feat in itself. He was unable to put the ball in the basket, leaving his career total at just two points. It's always nice to see young guys getting out there, but from a fantasy perspective, we can obviously disregard this news.
JANUARY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Off injury report Butler (illness) isn't listed on the injury report for Thursday's game versus the Nuggets.
Impact Butler appears to be available for the Trail Blazers following a pair of absences due to illness. Even so, Butler has logged a total of 14 minutes for Portland this season, so his return shouldn't impact the rotation.
DECEMBER 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Out again Butler (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Pacers.
Impact Butler will miss a second straight game due to an illness. His absence won't impact Portland's rotation.
DECEMBER 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Out Saturday Butler is out Saturday against the Jazz due to a non-COVID illness, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Impact Butler's absence won't affect Portland's rotation. His next chance to play is Sunday against the Pacers.
DECEMBER 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Set to play Wednesday Butler (finger) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Hornets.
Impact While Butler doesn't consistently handle minutes, he could see a handful Wednesday with both Jerami Grant (ankle) and Jusuf Nurkic (thigh) missing the contest, voiding a large chunk of frontcourt minutes. He's generally viewed as a depth piece and remains off the fantasy radar.
NOVEMBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Given probable designation Butler is listed as probable for Wednesday's game versus the Hornets because of left finger soreness.
Impact Butler is with the Trail Blazers on a two-way deal and saw his first minutes of the season with the team Saturday. Even if he is available for Wednesday's contest, it's unlikely he will take the floor unless a sizable number of the six Portland players listed as probable wind up missing the game, and he isn't one of them.

OCTOBER 20, 2022 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Inks two-way deal Butler signed a two-way contract with the Trail Blazers on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Impact Butler spent the preseason with the Pelicans but was cut loose Oct. 10. He didn't have to wait long before finding a new home, as he'll join the Blazers prior to the start of the new campaign. Butler will now set his sights on carving out a role for himself within Portland's rotation.
OCTOBER 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Let go by Pelicans Butler was waived by the Pelicans on Monday.
Impact Butler's contract was converted to a two-way deal last week, but he'll part ways with the organization a week later. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, he'll likely have an opportunity to play in the G League this year.
OCTOBER 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Contract converted to two-way Butler had his contract converted into a two-way deal on Monday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The Florida State product played with the Pelicans during Summer League and will remain with the organization after having his contract converted into a two-way deal. Butler's first chance to make his preseason debut comes Tuesday against the Bulls.
