Impact The Bulls are still dealing with plenty of injuries, but they seem comfortable with Carter playing a strict reserve role. The veteran point guard has averaged 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.3 minutes per contest over 14 games.

Impact Carter's offensive production has been very inconsistent, as he has logged duds every other game after turning in a solid shooting performance. He remains buried in the depth chart behind Josh Giddey, Coby White and Tre Jones, but still finds himself in the rotation.

Impact The five threes were a season high for Carter, albeit in only his fourth game, and it was his best showing from beyond the arc since March 31 of last season. The journeyman guard seems to have found a home as a depth option in the Chicago backcourt after playing for four different teams in his first five years in the NBA, but with Coby White (calf) getting close to resuming a full workload, Carter will likely head back to the end of the bench in short order.

Impact Carter had arguably his best game in the past 12 months, an indication of how muted his role has become. Chicago was once again without Josh Giddey (ankle), allowing Cater to move into a somewhat meaningful role. While it was great to see the veteran holding his own, this is likely nothing more than an outlier, based on what we have seen from him in recent times.

Impact Carter made his season debut Sunday against New York, and while he was unable to produce in his first game, it is worth noting that he is probably getting back to speed after not playing since the preseason. Carter will likely continue backing up Tre Jones until Coby White (calf) returns.
