Herbert Jones News, Rumors, Updates - New Orleans Pelicans

Starting Tuesday vs. OKC Jones is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason game against the Thunder, Andrew Lopez of Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.

Impact Jones will start on the wing, with Zion Williamson and Yves Missi as the frontcourt pairing. The former Alabama standout was limited to just 56 regular-season appearances in 2025-26 and averaged 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists while logging 28.4 minutes per game. If he stays healthy, he should be a lock in the starting unit.

Held to 13 minutes in loss Jones recorded three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 13 minutes during Friday's 117-113 loss to Sacramento.

Impact Jones saw his role reduced in a big way Friday, as the Pelicans elected to lean more heavily on their bench players such as Derik Queen (28 minutes) and Micah Peavy (32 minutes). New Orleans doesn't have much to play for after being eliminated from postseason contention, so it seems the club is aiming to develop younger talent down the stretch of the regular season. Still, Jones has continued to be part of the starting lineup, so unless the team reports otherwise, he figures to be a bigger part of the game plan heading into Sunday's tilt against the Magic.

Notches 11 points in loss Jones racked up 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt), four assists and one block over 27 minutes during Thursday's 129-108 loss to the Pistons.

Impact Although the Pelicans were missing Trey Murphy (ankle), Jones managed just 11 points in the loss. He remains a low-end fantasy asset, posting averages of 10.3 points, 3.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.0 three-pointers over his last eight games.

MARCH 27 • ROTOWIRE

Locked into significant minutes Jones provided 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and two steals over 30 minutes during Thursday's 105-99 victory over the Clippers.

Impact The Pelicans appear to have a revolving door at the center position, and Jones' versatility should keep him cemented in the starting lineup going forward. Jones has averaged 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.0 three-pointers in 31.2 minutes per tilt in his last five games, offering him some low-end fantasy appeal in nine-category setups.

Records five steals Jones produced five points (1-8 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and five steals in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 113-109 victory over the Warriors.

Impact Jones recorded at least five steals for the second time this season -- he snatched eight back on Dec. 18. Jones has been a little underwhelming for the most part in recent weeks, however, as he's averaging 7.3 points, 3.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 30.9 minutes per contest.

FEBRUARY 25 • ROTOWIRE

Rough shooting continues Jones registered eight points (3-11 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds, six assists and one block across 30 minutes during Monday's 120-94 win over the Kings.

Impact With Jordan Poole totally phased out of the New Orleans rotation, Jones seems to be locked in as the top shooting guard the rest of the way. Jones still appears to be knocking off some rust after missing extended time with an ankle sprain in January. Over his last nine outings, Jones has averaged 7.6 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 29.5 minutes per game while shooting a poor 24.4 percent from deep.

Impact Jones cashed in a season-high four triples Monday after failing to eclipse more than one in a game since returning from his ankle injury. While he has not shot the ball well from beyond the arc recently, converting just 18.2 percent of his three-point attempts in the five games prior, Jones' performance Monday can be an encouraging sign that he may be getting back on track in regards to his efficiency.

Hands out five dimes in 27 minutes Jones notched nine points (3-12 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 104-95 loss to the Thunder.

Impact Jones opened Tuesday's game with six straight misses and never found his footing offensively. The struggles were team-wide, as the Pelicans shot just 34-for-99 from the floor and 10-for-40 from three-point range against the Thunder's No. 1-rated defense. On the positive side, Jones contributed four stocks and five assists without a turnover, and ended his evening with a plus-nine differential.

Brings defense, assists in return Jones (ankle) finished with zero points (0-3 FG, 0-3 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks across 25 minutes in Friday's 133-127 win over the Grizzlies.

Impact With Jones making his return from an eight-game absence due to a right ankle sprain, the Pelicans opted to include him as part of a starting unit that lacked a true point guard while Jeremiah Fears moved to the bench. Jones ended up taking on some extra playmaking responsibilities as a result and netted a season-high assist total, and his output in that category plus strong defensive numbers helped offset the lack of scoring production. Assuming his ankle presented no complications during Friday's contest, Jones could see his minutes pick up slightly in the Pelicans' next game Sunday in San Antonio.

JANUARY 24 • ROTOWIRE

Available Friday Jones (ankle) is available for Friday's game against Memphis.

Impact Jones will shake off his questionable tag and return from an eight-game absence due to a right ankle sprain. The 27-year-old forward has appeared in just one game since Dec. 23, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him operate under a minutes restriction. Still, his return will leave fewer minutes available for the likes of Micah Peavy, Bryce McGowens and Jordan Hawkins.
