INJURIES

Grabs 11 boards Bassey amassed four points (2-10 FG, 0-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 14 minutes during Wednesday's 120-110 loss to Charlotte.
Impact Bassey has now played in two straight games after missing most of January and a good chunk of February tending to a leg injury. He's been unable to provide much on the offensive end, but he's secured eight and 11 rebounds in his two appearances this week. Bassey should continue to serve as the backup center to Zach Collins after the break.

Report: Spurs ink C Charles Bassey to new 4-year deal The San Antonio Spurs are signing center Charles Bassey to a new four-year deal worth $10.2 million, The Athletic reported Tuesday.
FEBRUARY 14, 2023 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Inks four-year deal The Spurs signed Bassey to a four-year, $10.2 million deal Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Impact Bassey has appeared in 25 games (one start) for the Spurs this season and is averaging 4.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals-plus-blocks across 13.6 minutes. He spent most of January at the G League level, but he reclaimed the backup center role behind Zach Collins on Monday, posting six points and eight rebounds in 13 minutes. Given his new deal, it appears San Antonio may envision the second-year big man out of Western Kentucky as the future starting center after the departure of stalwart Jakob Poeltl at the trade deadline.
FEBRUARY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Reclaims backup center role Bassey (lower leg) finished Monday's 117-109 loss to the Cavaliers with six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds and one steal.
Impact Bassey has spent much of the past month in the G League, but he hadn't played for the Austin Spurs since Jan. 28 due to a sore left lower leg. The second-year big man was cleared to rejoin the NBA team over the weekend, however, and he evidently demonstrated that he was healthy enough to play Monday. Head coach Gregg Popovich deployed Bassey as the top backup to starting center Zach Collins, moving veteran Gorgui Dieng out of the rotation in the process while Isaiah Roby shifted over to the backup power forward role. Bassey turned in quality per-minute numbers, and though his overall upside will remain capped so long as Collins is healthy, the former should still be an asset in deeper leagues if he consistently sticks in the backup center role on a game-by-game basis.
FEBRUARY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Available to play Bassey (leg) will be available to play Monday versus the Cavs, independent NBA writer Matthew Tynan reports.
Impact This will be Bassey's first game since Jan. 7, so he'll likely have his minutes monitored Monday night, but he's returning to a much different situation in San Antonio with Jakob Poeltl now in Toronto. He'll likely be operating as Zach Collins' backup, but he's shown this season that he's capable of putting up fantasy-relevant stat lines if he's able to clear the 20-minute mark, so keep an eye on him.
FEBRUARY 13, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Iffy for Monday's contest Bassey (foot) is questionable for Monday's matchup against the Cavaliers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Impact Bassey was awarded with a standard NBA contract Sunday, but he continues to nurse a sore left foot. When available, the second-year big man will compete for a bench role in San Antonio's frontcourt.
FEBRUARY 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Gets standard NBA deal The Spurs informed Bassey (foot) on Sunday that he'll have his two-way contract converted into a standard NBA deal, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
Impact Bassey was nearing his 50-day limit for time that two-way players are allotted to spend at the NBA level for the season, and since the 22-year-old center is still viewed as a high-priority developmental option for the rebuilding Spurs, the team was keen on clearing a spot for him on the 15-man roster. San Antonio facilitated the open roster spot by waiving veteran forward Stanley Johnson. Bassey had seen his most recent action in the G League, but he hadn't played with the Austin Spurs due to a sore left foot. The issue isn't viewed as a long-term concern, however, and Bassey looks as though he could be available as a bench option for San Antonio's next game Monday in Cleveland.

Remains out Saturday Bassey (foot) won't be available for the Spurs in Saturday's game against the Hawks, as he remains on assignment with the G League's Austin Spurs, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com r...
Impact Bassey hasn't suited up for Austin since Jan. 28 on account of a sore left foot, missing five consecutive G League games in the process. Even though he'll remain with the G League affiliate, it's unclear if he'll be able to play through the injury in Austin's matchup Saturday with the Birmingham Squadron.
FEBRUARY 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to G League The Spurs assigned Bassey to the Austin Spurs of the G League on Wednesday.
Impact Bassey is one of the Spurs' two-way players but has played most of this season in the NBA. However, he will return to Austin after not receiving any playing time in Wednesday's contest.
JANUARY 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Available Saturday Bassey will be in uniform for the Spurs against the Celtics on Saturday, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com reports.
Impact Bassey has been down with the team's G League affiliate recently but will return Saturday to provide additional depth in the frontcourt. He should see the floor with Jakob Poeltl (Achilles) out.
JANUARY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Will make first career start Bassey will start Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
Impact With Jakob Poeltl (knee) and Zach Collins (ankle) both out, Bassey will make his first career NBA start. The second-year big man is averaging 6.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks in 16.1 minutes per game, but he'll presumably see a slightly larger role against Portland on Wednesday.
DECEMBER 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Scores in double figures off bench Bassey produced 10 points (3-3 FG, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, four blocks and one steal over 21 minutes during Thursday's 118-109 victory over the Rockets.
Impact Bassey was perfect from the field and the free-throw line, helping him score at least 10 points for the second time in three games. The second-year big man was also active defensively, although he picked up four fouls in addition to his four blocks.

Quality performance Bassey supplied 11 points (5-5 FG, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 21 minutes during Friday's 117-99 loss to the Pelicans.
Impact Bassey was perfect from the field en route to a career-best 11 points. A rotational piece that will spend time in the G League, Bassey is best viewed as a reliable rebounder and center depth for San Antonio.
DECEMBER 3, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Called up to NBA Bassey will join the San Antonio Spurs for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Bruno Passos of PoundingTheRock.com reports.
Impact Bassey's promotion is not surprising considering the Spurs injury report lists Jakob Poeltl (knee), Jeremy Sochan (quadriceps) and Doug McDermott (ankle) as out for the contest. Bassey will likely share center minutes with Zach Collins, however, given Bassey is capable of putting up fantasy numbers in limited minutes, he remains an intriguing streaming option.
DECEMBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Downward trend continues Bassey contributed three points (1-1 FG, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 129-110 loss to the Pelicans.
Impact Bassey managed just 12 minutes in the loss, the fewest minutes he has played in over two weeks. After a brief period of 12-team relevance, his production has plateaued recently, moving him firmly into the drop discussion. With Zach Collins likely to return from a leg injury this week, there is very little reason to still be holding Bassey outside of deeper formats.
NOVEMBER 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets 24 minutes in blowout loss Bassey provided six points (3-5 FG), seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 24 minutes in Monday's 132-95 loss to the Warriors.
Impact Bassey saw double-digit minutes for the fourth game in a row while he continued to serve as the top backup to starting center Jakob Poeltl in the absence of Zach Collins (lower leg). His playing time ticked up Monday due to blowout nature of the contest, but Bassey should stick in the 15-to-20-minute range in more competitive contests and when Poeltl isn't dealing with foul trouble. With averages of 6.0 points (on 62.5 percent shooting from the field), 8.8 boards, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 0.8 steals in the past four games, Bassey hasn't needed big minutes to produce fantasy-friendly lines. He should remain a worthy streaming option for at least this week, as the Spurs play an NBA-high five games.
NOVEMBER 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to see added minutes Head coach Gregg Popovich indicated Wednesday that Bassey will likely see additional minutes moving forward while Zach Collins (lower leg) is sidelined, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San A...
Impact Bassey performed reasonably well in his extended run Monday, racking up three points, eight boards, an assist, a steal and a block over 16 minutes. Bassey could temporarily be worth a look in some formats if he continues contributing across the fantasy board.
NOVEMBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Grabs eight boards in 16 minutes Bassey ended with three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 16 minutes during Monday's 115-109 loss to the Nuggets.
Impact Bassey logged a few extra minutes with Zach Collins on the sideline. In his 16 minutes on the floor, Bassey managed to contribute across multiple categories. Although this is almost certainly an outlier, he is a name to watch should the Spurs eventually decide to see what he can do on a regular basis.
NOVEMBER 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled to NBA club San Antonio recalled Bassey on Monday, Ty Jager of PoundingTheRock.com reports.
Impact Bassey was dominant during the G League's Opening Night, posting 33 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. The second-year big man will be available Monday and could crack the rotation with Zach Collins (lower leg) sidelined, but even if he does see the court, he likely won't garner a large enough role to be fantasy relevant.
NOVEMBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to G League The Spurs assigned Bassey to the Austin Spurs of the G League on Thursday.
Impact Bassey tallied nine points, four rebounds and two blocks in 12 minutes during Wednesday's 143-100 loss to the Raptors. These minutes were likely given to the second-year center because the game was so out of hand. Bassey had not played in any game until Wednesday and should be able to find more playing time with the Austin Spurs.
NOVEMBER 3, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Links up with San Antonio Bassey agreed Monday with the Spurs on a two-way contract, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Impact After a solid rookie season in which he averaged 3.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game in just 7.3 minutes per contest over 23 appearances, Bassey was unable to win a secure a spot on the 76ers' opening night roster coming out of training camp. The 21-year-old didn't take long to land elsewhere, but he'll still function as little more than a depth piece at center behind Jakob Poeltl, Zach Collins and Gorgui Dieng. Bassey could end up seeing most of his action with the G League's Austin Spurs if all the veteran centers on the depth chart for the NBA team maintain health.
