Austin Reaves News, Rumors, Updates - Los Angeles Lakers

Thriving as starter Reaves posted 12 points (6-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one block across 32 minutes Friday in the Lakers' 122-109 win over the Wizards.

Impact Reaves stepped into a starting role with the Lakers beginning in late February, and at this point, he's performed well enough to hold off Avery Bradley from regaining his spot on the top unit. Though the 10 shots he took Friday marked a season high for the undrafted rookie, he's made the most of his limited usage of late. Reaves has cleared double digits in the scoring column in four straight games, averaging 13.0 points and 1.8 three-pointers on 59.4 percent shooting from the field. He's also chipped in 5.0 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks, numbers that should put him on the radar in 12-team leagues for the time being.

Efficient in spot start Reaves amassed 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt) and six rebounds in 27 minutes during Monday's 117-110 loss to San Antonio.

Impact Reaves has gradually increased his impact, and he logged his sixth consecutive start in the loss. Reaves has emerged as the preferred option among other spot starters like Trevor Ariza and Stanley Johnson. There's a lot of variance involved with rostering Los Angeles' secondary options, but it appears that Reaves has the most exposure with the first unit.

Submits well-rounded line Reaves finished with 10 points (3-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks across 34 minutes in Saturday's 124-116 win over the Warriors.

Impact Making his fifth straight start for the Lakers, the undrafted rookie turned in what might have been his most well-rounded fantasy line of the season. Reaves looks as though he'll continue to stick in a 20-plus-minute role while the Lakers turn to a slew of players to pick up the slack while Anthony Davis (foot) is out, but the 23-year-old's upside isn't particularly high. Over his prior four starts, Reaves posted modest averages of 4.8 points, 2.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, 0.5 three-pointers and 0.5 steals in 24.3 minutes.

MARCH 6, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Available as expected Reaves (ankle) is available for Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.

Impact No surprise here, as Reaves was initially probable. He's started the past two games but remains a low-usage player who gets playing time due to his defense and hustle.

MARCH 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Probable for Tuesday Reaves is being listed as probable for Tuesday's game against Dallas due to a right ankle sprain.

Impact It's unclear as to when Reaves may have picked up the injury, but he appears in line to play in his team's upcoming matchup. Expect an update from the Lakers on his status closer to tipoff.

MARCH 1, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Making first career start Reaves is starting Friday's game against the Clippers, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.

Impact Reaves scored in double figures in two of his final four appearances ahead of the All-Star break, and he'll make his first career start Friday. Malik Monk will take on a bench role.

FEBRUARY 26, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Comes through with clutch three Reaves produced nine points (3-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 106-101 victory over the Jazz.

Impact Reaves wasn't particularly aggressive on offense for most of his 29 minutes, but he nailed perhaps the Lakers' biggest bucket of the game with less than 20 seconds remaining, draining a three-pointer off a LeBron James pass to give Los Angeles a four-point lead. Reaves has shown a knack for hitting big shots at times this season, though his overall production has been sporadic. The rookie is averaging 6.2 points, 2.6 boards and 1.3 assists over 21.3 minutes across 39 contests.

Quiet outing in win Reaves supplied nine points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds and one block over 18 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 overtime win over the Knicks.

Impact With the return of LeBron James (knee), Reaves played fewer than 20 minutes for the first time over his last seven games. The rookie guard is averaging 5.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.3 minutes, but he doesn't offer much fantasy potential unless one of more of the Lakers' big three is sidelined.

Grabs eight boards Reaves totaled 16 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes during Friday's 117-114 loss to the Hornets.

Impact With Anthony Davis (wrist), LeBron James (knee) and Malik Monk (groin) all sidelined Friday, Reaves attempted a career-high 12 field-goal attempts en route to his eighth double-digit scoring outing of the season. The 6-foot-5 rookie also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds during the loss. Reaves has garnered a sizable role off the bench, but his production hasn't been consistent enough to trust on a game-by-game basis. However, if the Lakers continue to deal with injuries to their stars, Reaves will likely be a primary beneficiary.

Posts career-best scoring total Reaves ended with 19 points (7-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and three rebounds in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 125-116 loss to the Kings.

Impact Reaves was one of only three Lakers to finish with double-digit scoring in the contest, joining LeBron James (34 points) and Malik Monk (22 points). The rookie's point total was the highest of his career, and he reached the mark largely from beyond the arc, where he knocked down four of seven tries. Reaves has been inconsistent at times and doesn't produce much in terms of peripheral stats, but the fact that he has earned valuable minutes and has enjoyed some strong performances, speaks volumes considering the minimal role he was expected to fill coming into the season.
