Impact One of Dallas' two two-way players, Lawson hasn't suited up at the NBA level since Feb. 15, but he appears to have sustained the knee injury while he was on assignment in the G League. Lawson has appeared in three games to date for the Legends, averaging 25.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.7 three-pointers, 2.0 steals and 0.7 blocks in 34.9 minutes per contest in those outings.

Impact Even with Kyrie Irving (back) sitting out Wednesday, Dallas head coach Jason Kidd expanded his rotation to 11 men, allowing Lawson to make his first appearance since Feb. 6. Though Lawson acquitted himself well during his limited time on the court, the two-way player will likely find himself outside of the rotation and perhaps back in the G League when the Mavericks open their post-All-Star-break schedule.

Impact Lawson has spent most of the 2022-23 season with the College Park Skyhawks of the G League. The Mavericks opened up space to sign him by letting go of Tyler Dorsey.

Impact Lawson's two-way slot will go to wing Matt Ryan, who agreed to a deal with the Timberwolves on Tuesday after he was recently cut by the Lakers. Ryan is expected to give the Timberwolves another perimeter shooter off the bench, a skill hasn't consistently flashed since signing a two-way deal with Minnesota in mid-November. Though he saw just two minutes of garbage-time run with the NBA team, Lawson shot 28.1 percent from three-point range over 141 minutes of action with the G League's Iowa Wolves.
