Aaron Holiday News, Rumors, Updates - Houston Rockets

Catches on with Italian team Holiday agreed to a contract Wednesday with Italian club Maxima Roma, EuroLeagueBasketball.net reports.

Impact After spending the past eight seasons in the NBA and the last three with the Rockets, the 29-year-old Holiday is now set to continue his playing career overseas. His deal with the Maxima Roma contains an out if an NBA team is willing to meet buyout conditions, so the door is open for the veteran guard to return to the league at some point down the line.

Impact Holiday played a very minor role in this season-ending loss. During the regular season, Holiday appeared in 57 contests with averages of 5.5 points, 1.1 assists, 1.0 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 13.7 minutes per contest.

MAY 4 • ROTOWIRE

Ejected from Game 4 Holiday was ejected from Sunday's Game 4 against the Lakers, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Holiday got tangled up with Adou Thiero under the basket late in the fourth quarter before things got a little chippy, leading to both of them getting ejected. He concludes the contest with nine points (3-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), one assist, one steal and a block in 18 minutes.

Limited role in loss Holiday provided three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 110-108 overtime loss to the Timberwolves.

Impact Holiday continues to be used sparingly off the bench this season. He has just 47 regular-season appearances to his name for averages of 5.4 points and 1.0 assists in 13.2 minutes per contest.

MARCH 26 • ROTOWIRE

Moves out of rotation Holiday (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Friday in the Rockets' 107-105 win over the Pelicans.

Impact The Rockets didn't have Alperen Sengun (back) available Friday, but his absence wasn't enough for Holiday to stick around in the rotation. After Holiday had averaged 9.5 minutes per game while appearing in each of the past four games, he ended up ceding his spot in the Rockets' nine-man rotation to Jeff Green (nine minutes), with head coach Ime Udoka opting to add more size to the second unit while Dorian Finney-Smith replaced Sengun in the starting five.

MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE

Passive performance again Wednesday Holiday provided two points (1-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt), one rebound and three assists across 16 minutes during Wednesday's 129-93 loss to Denver.

Impact Holiday continues to offer very little when on the court, scoring no more than five points for the sixth straight game. At this point, he isn't even an every-night part of the rotation, often seeing the court when the result is all but decided. In 43 appearances thus far, he has averaged 5.4 points in 13.0 minutes per game.

MARCH 12 • ROTOWIRE

Quiet in 20 minutes Holiday closed with two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt) across 20 minutes during Monday's 123-118 victory over Washington.

Impact Holiday saw a healthy workload with the second unit, but his usage rate was microscopic. It's worth mentioning that Amen Thompson tweaked his ankle Monday, so there could be more minutes opening up in Houston.

MARCH 3 • ROTOWIRE

Plays final minute of loss Holiday took the court for the final 51 seconds of Wednesday's 111-99 loss to the Spurs, finishing with one assist and no other statistics.

Impact Holiday had missed two straight games while recovering from back spasms before being cleared to return to action for Monday's 108-99 win over the Grizzlies. He went unused in that contest, and while he remained out of the rotation Wednesday, Holiday got the chance to play in the final minute when the Rockets had essentially conceded defeat. With both Tari Eason (ankle) and Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) set to rest Thursday in Atlanta, Holiday could end up being in store for more meaningful playing time in the second leg of the Rockets' back-to-back set.

JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE

Available Monday Holiday (back) is available for Monday's game against Memphis.

Impact Holiday will be available to return from a two-game absence due to a back issue, though he isn't guaranteed to see the floor. He had recorded a DNP-CD in three straight games prior to the injury absence.

JANUARY 27 • ROTOWIRE

Likely to play Monday Holiday (back) is probable for Monday's game against the Grizzlies.

Impact Holiday will likely return to the lineup Monday after missing the last five games with a back issue. Holiday has seen inconsistent minutes this season, but with the team relatively healthy, he doesn't figure to return to a significant role.

JANUARY 25 • ROTOWIRE

Listed out Friday Holiday is out for Friday's game against the Pistons due to back spasms.

Impact Holiday is out for consecutive contests due to the issue. His next chance to play comes Monday against the Grizzlies. Holiday's absence gives JD Davison the opportunity to claim a meaningful role off the bench Friday, as Tari Eason (ankle) is out.

JANUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE

Listed questionable Friday Holiday is questionable for Friday's game against Detroit with back spasms.

Impact Holiday is looking to return from a one-game absence after sitting out the front end of Houston's back-to-back set Thursday. With Tari Eason (ankle) out against the Pistons, Holiday could end up seeing some decent run off the bench if he's able to suit up.

JANUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE

Won't play Thursday Holiday (back) will not play Thursday against the 76ers.

Impact Holiday hasn't been in the rotation for Houston lately, so this news is unlikely to make much of an impact in fantasy hoops.

JANUARY 22 • ROTOWIRE

Iffy for Thursday Holiday is questionable for Thursday's game against the 76ers due to back spasms.

Impact It's worth noting that Thursday is the front end of a back-to-back for the Rockets. However, Holiday hasn't appeared in three consecutive contests, so his absence wouldn't seem to open up any playing time in the backcourt.

JANUARY 21 • ROTOWIRE

Back to bench Tuesday Holiday is not in the Rockets' starting lineup against Chicago on Tuesday, Lachard Binkley of SI.com reports.

Impact Holiday made his first start of the season during the Rockets' 111-98 loss to the Kings on Sunday, when he logged three points, four assists, one rebound and one steal over 28 minutes while making one of seven three-point attempts. He'll revert to a bench role Tuesday while Josh Okogie enters Houston's starting lineup.

JANUARY 14 • ROTOWIRE

Starting Sunday vs. Sacramento Head coach Ime Udoka told reporters that Holiday will start against the Kings on Sunday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.

Impact Tari Eason will miss Sunday's game due to an ankle injury, so Holiday will enter the Rockets' starting lineup for the first time this season. It's an opportunity to earn a larger role in the rotation for Holiday, who has averaged just 8.5 minutes per game over his last eight outings and was a healthy DNP against the Trail Blazers on Friday.

JANUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE

Goes scoreless in loss Holiday contributed zero points (0-6 FG, 0-5 3Pt), one assist, one block and three steals over 14 minutes during Saturday's 110-104 loss to the Mavericks.

Impact Holiday offered very little despite playing 14 minutes, failing to score for the third time in the past five games. Although Holiday has been a consistent part of the rotation, his playing time typically fluctuates based on a number of factors. At this point, he should only be seen as an option in deeper fantasy formats.

Plays well again in loss Holiday closed with 19 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, one block and one steal over 27 minutes during Saturday's 122-109 loss to Dallas.

Impact Holiday continues to trend up for the Rockets and is seemingly pulling ahead of Reed Sheppard in the backcourt, at least in terms of minutes. Over his last four games, Holiday is seeing 26.4 minutes per game compared to 23.1 for Sheppard. In that span, he's averaging 11.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.3 three-pointers.

Plays 33 minutes off bench Holiday totaled 10 points (3-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists across 33 minutes during Monday's 133-125 loss to Utah.

Impact Holiday led all bench players in minutes by a wide margin, and has emerged as the team's backup point guard behind Amen Thompson. In his last eight games, Holiday is averaging 12.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.6 threes on a 40.4 percent clip.
