Suffers Hydraulic Failure Lawson suffered a hydraulic failure in FP1 for the Grand Prix of Canada Formula 1 race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Friday afternoon.

Impact Lawson had turned some steady laps in the early-going of this FP1 and looked ready to push the envelope. However, not far into this practice session his car would lose power and hydraulics and come to a grinding halt in one of the turns. Impact A good qualifying effort would put him 11th on the starting grid and with hopes of scoring points Sunday in Miami. However, it would dramatically change on lap 6 while fighting for position with Pierre Gasly. Lawson's car would lock-up after suffering a gearbox failure under braking. Drive forward in Japan Lawson finished ninth in the Japanese Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Suzuka Circuit on Sunday.

Impact A tough qualifying effort would line the Racing Bulls youngster up 14th on the starting grid. However, Lawson would be undeterred in driving forward during the Japanese Grand Prix. He would grab a couple spots on the opening lap and use the lap 22 safety car to pit. That would promote Lawson into the Top 10 where he'd race the rest of the way. Impact Good qualifying and good track position of P8 would go up in smoke for Lawson at the lights out. Failed to Finish in Miami Lawson retired on lap 36 and finished 17th in the Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Miami International Autodrome on Sunday afternoon.

Impact Lawson's day would start ominously with contact with Jack Doohan on lap 1.
