Claims Formula 1 Championship
Norris soaked up the pressure of a nervy Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to finish on the podium and in turn secure the F1 Drivers' Championship for the first time - following rivals Max Vers...
Impact
Norris would roll off P2 on the grid and would soon fall into the clutches of his teammate, Oscar Piastri, on the opening lap. Norris would slip to P3 but would run a managed and smart race from there. The McLaren star would repel multiple attacks from Charles Leclerc during the evening on the Yas Marina Circuit and would hold strong until the end. Norris would cross the finish line in third-place at nearly 4-seconds behind Piastri. The finish was good enough to clinch the 2025 World Championship for Norris.

Impact
This is second session was run under the lights and in the cooler evening air at the Yas Marina Circuit. The conditions were much closer to what we will see in both qualifying and the grand prix. Norris would go to work on soft tyres late in the session and post a day's best lap of 1:23.083 to separate himself from Verstappen by more than three-tenths. The strong lap made a big statement for Norris and implies that he will be the driver to beat in pole qualifying on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Leads Opening Abu Dhabi Practice

Impact
This FP1 was a rookie-filled practice on the Yas Marina Circuit. As many as nine development drivers participated in this session so youth and inexperience would mark the practice. Norris would have no trouble elevating to the top of the timing sheets with a lap of 1:24.485. He would best Verstappen by a mere 0.008-seconds to lead the way. The McLaren star will be locked in duel this Sunday at Abu Dhabi to decide this season's drivers championship.

Strategy Blunder in Qatar
Norris finished fourth the Qatar Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Lusail International Circuit on Sunday.
Impact
Norris started on the outside pole but would quickly fall into the clutches of a fast-starting Max Verstappen after the lights out. He would ride P3 until a lap 7 safety car for Nico Hulkenberg's accident. McLaren would decide to keep both their drivers out while most of the field pitted for fresh rubber. It would only be a short term gain for Norris as it would put him on much older tyres to end the opening stint and drop to P5 after his first stop. Norris would attempt to battle back and fortunately overtake Kimi Antonelli on the last lap to secure a somewhat disappointing P4 in Qatar.

Impact
Norris would see a P2 effort and podium finish wiped out after post-race inspection would discover excessive skid plate wear to his McLaren. It would be less than the 9 mm thick that FIA requires to be legal. Norris lost his runner-up finish and the points that go with it. This is a major setback in terms of the championship and Max Verstappen draws even closer to him as a result of his win and Norris' disqualification.

Claims Las Vegas Pole

Impact
Rain prior to the start and into Q1 would make this an interesting qualifying session. The wet conditions would make each round have a different fastest driver and several close calls with disaster. Sainz and Verstappen would post consecutive fastest laps late in Q3 but it would be Norris who would cross the finish line last and fastest. His circuit of 1:47.934 on intermediate tyres in the damp would set the marker and grab P1 for Saturday night's grand prix. It was the McLaren star's third-consecutive pole in his march towards this season's championship.

Impact
A combination of cool temperatures and moisture on the track would make conditions tricky for this FP2. As things got underway, lap times would tumble though. Norris would post a day's best lap of 1:33.602 which was significantly better than his laps in FP1. He would edge Antonelli by just 0.029-seconds to claim the top of the timing charts. Norris is coming off victories in both Mexico City and Sao Paulo and is carrying a lot of momentum into Las Vegas this weekend.

Impact
Norris would survive the opening laps as chaos played out behind the McLaren star. Numerous incidents and accidents would play out and Norris would stay clear of the drama. Various race strategies would be employed but no one could dethrone him from his grip on this grand prix. Norris would run away at the end to a 10-seond victory over Antonelli as the Mercedes rookie would be totally consumed with keeping Verstappen at bay. It was Norris' seventh win of the season and he strengthened his grip on this season's driver's championship.

Impact
With Verstappen making an early Q1 exit, there would be little to challenge Norris in Q3 for pole. He would post successive fast laps and finally turn in a time of 1:09.511 to beat out Kimi Antonelli by nearly two-tenths. Norris will start P1 Sunday at the Interlagos Circuit and look to be the driver to beat in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Impact
This Sprint would be marked by treacherous conditions, crashes and red flags. Norris would get away well at the lights and he would do it once again after the red-flag period for Piastri's crash. Antonelli would apply pressure to Norris in the closing laps but another crash and safety car period for Gabriel Bortoleto's hard crash would bring the Sprint to an end under yellow. The McLaren star would grab a valuable 8 points for the victory.

The McLaren star would improve further with his final flying lap and record a circuit of 1:09.243 of the Interlagos Circuit. Norris would edge Kimi Antonelli by one-tenth to capture the pole position for Saturday's Sprint in Sao Paulo. He'll roll off P1 and be the heavy odds favorite to win.

Impact
This hour-long session would see a lot of action. Data collection for long runs would be the opening for most teams with mock qualifying runs happening in the latter minutes. Norris would leap to the top of the time sheets with a lap of 1:09.975 on soft tyres. He would edge Piastri by just 0.023-seconds to claim the top lap of the session. Norris looks to be one of the top contenders to win both the Sprint and Grand Prix this weekend in Brazil.
