Earns points again Hulkenberg finished eighth in the Dutch Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday.
Impact Hulkenberg looked to be in for a poor weekend, as he began the Dutch Grand Prix by qualifying 14th for the sprint before finishing 17 laps off the pace due to a power problem. Even after qualifying poorly for the main race, he managed to gain ground on race day with passes of other midfield drivers contending for points, including Pierre Gasly and Arvid Lindblad. After struggling for most of the season, Hulkenberg now has points in consecutive grand prix.

Impact Hulkenberg out-qualified teammate Gabriel Bortoleto and managed to hold on to convert his first points of the season. He primarily battled for positioning with the two Racing Bulls drivers, and he managed to split them at the finish despite Audi having an inferior car. Finishes outside points Hulkenberg finished 13th in the Belgian Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday.
Impact Hulkenberg's gearbox problems from the British Grand Prix carried over to the start of the Belgian Grand Prix and affected his qualifying. That limited him to starting 12th on the grid, behind teammate Gabriel Bortoleto. That compounded as Audi's race strategy slightly favored Bortoleto and pushed Hulkenberg into a pack of midfield cars that he was unable to break free from following a Virtual Safety Car early in the race. Despite being competitive with Bortoleto, Hulkenberg has still yet to tally points this season.
JULY 22 • ROTOWIRE

Unlucky in China Hulkenberg finished 11th in the Chinese Grand Prix F1 race at Shanghai International Circuit on Sunday.
Impact Hulkenberg qualified well enough in both the sprint and grand prix to tally points, but he came away empty instead. He was forced to retire his Audi on Lap 13 of the sprint due to a technical issue, and he ran into bad luck one day later in the traditional race. An early caution negated his strategy to begin the race on hard tires, and a slow second pit stop likely cost him at least one position. Impact Hulkenberg looked to be in for a disappointing end to the season, as he was knocked out in Q1 for the first time since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. After lining up 18th on the grid to start, he took advantage of a well-timed caution flag, undercutting the field to pick up seven spots. Hulkenberg was unable to make additional progress from there, but he was ultimately promoted to ninth due to time penalties incurred ahead of him. He finished the season with a solid haul of 51 points, highlighted by the first podium of his career at Silverstone in the middle of the summer.
