He looked slightly better in the very early portions of the race, though he didn't make it far before dealing with instability caused by a water pressure issue. Crashes on 13th lap Stroll crashed after 12 laps of the Spanish Grand Prix F1 race at the Madring on Sunday.

Impact Stroll failed to set up a lap time during qualifying, knowing that he would serve a significant grid penalty for changing components of the power unit. That was far from the end of his troubles, as he ran toward the back of the field before suffering brake failure on his 13th lap. The result was Stroll barreling into the barriers and retiring from his third consecutive race.

Impact The Aston Martin was once again the slowest car in the field, hampering both Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Stroll was ultimately forced to retire due to a hydraulic issue, which was not his own doing. Nevertheless, Stroll has now retired from three of the last four races and seven of the 13 total races this season.

After retiring from the race, Stroll reported that he picked up damage from debris on the track that hurt the handling of his car. Shows improvement at Hungary Stroll finished 13th in the Hungarian Grand Prix F1 race at the Hungaroring on Sunday.

Impact The Aston Martin showed the expected improvement after significant upgrades were introduced, and Stroll took advantage. He had a poor qualifying session after making a mistake on Turn 12, but he went to run a clean race and gain several positions. This marked Stroll's best finish of the season, and he could build on this result coming out of the summer break.

Another retirement Stroll retired from the Austrian Grand Prix F1 Race at the Red Bull Ring after 45 laps on Sunday.

Impact The Aston Martin remains non-competitive, though Stroll did show some positive signs on race day. After qualifying 22nd, he managed to overtake teammate Fernando Alonso on Lap 38. Only a handful of laps later, he was advised to come to pit lane to retire the car. That marked Stroll's fifth retirement in eight races this season.

Impact Stroll has been a non-factor all season due to a combination of his own form and the form of his Aston Martin. He ultimately failed to finish due to a blemish in the track conditions, and Stroll has now been forced to retire in half of the six races this season.

Impact Aston Martin was known to be in a significant hole heading into the weekend, and Stroll was rarely on the track. He ran only 16 laps combined across the three practice sessions and did not participate at all in qualifying. Stroll did manage to complete 43 laps on race day, double that of teammate Fernando Alonso, but it was an underwhelming weekend. Impact Stroll started 15th on the grid after another underwhelming showing in qualifying. However, he and Aston Martin got the strategy right, as Stroll started the race on hard tires and was the second-to-last driver to pit. That allowed him to gain track position, which he maintained in a short second stint. Stroll was hit with a five-second penalty late in the race while defending a position from Carlos Sainz Jr., but he still managed to pick up his first point since the Dutch Grand Prix in late August. It was a positive close to an otherwise poor season, as Stroll managed to tally only 33 points.
