Impact This was a forgone conclusion, as Eflin is firmly entrenched in the Phillies' rotation heading into 2021. He posted a 3.97 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 70 strikeouts in 59 innings last season -- numbers supported by a 3.39 FIP and 3.23 xFIP.

Fans nine over eight innings Eflin (4-2) earned the win Wednesday against the Nationals after allowing three runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over eight innings.
Impact The right-hander dominated Washington through eight innings and attempted to finish a complete game, but he gave up a single and a homer before getting pulled. It's was still a strong performance for Eflin in what will be his final start of the regular season, though he could still be used out of the bullpen this weekend, if necessary. He has a 4.15 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 70:14 K:BB through 56.1 innings.

Impact The right-hander picked a good time for his best start of the season, as the Phillies are holding onto the first wild-card spot in the National League and are trying to catch the Marlins for the second seed in the NL East. Eflin will take a 4.28 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 61:13 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his final start of the regular season, currently scheduled for Sept. 25 in Tampa Bay.

Falters against Marlins Eflin (2-2) took the loss in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Marlins, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.
Impact Eflin started off poorly, allowing the first five batters to reach base in the first inning. He settled in after giving up three runs in the first, but the Phillies couldn't get him off the hook. Eflin now has a 5.01 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 52:11 K:BB across 41.1 innings this season. His next start is expected to be Friday versus the Blue Jays.

Hit hard in no-decision Eflin didn't factor into the decision during a 6-5 win over the Red Sox in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings...
Impact All three runs scored on solo shots, two of them by Rafael Devers, but Eflin still exited the game in line for his third win of the year before Tommy Hunter coughed up the lead in the sixth inning. Eflin had only served up four long balls in 32.1 innings coming into Tuesday, but his career HR/9 of 1.52 suggested some regression was overdue on that front. The right-hander will take a 4.40 ERA and impressive 48:9 K:BB into his next outing Sunday as part of another twin bill, this one in Miami.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Takes no-decision Eflin allowed four earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out five across six innings Thursday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Eflin pitched well for the majority of the afternoon, with the majority of the damage coming on an inside-the-park home run by Trea Turner in the third inning. He generated only six swinging strikes, but now has at least five punchouts in all six of his starts this season. Overall, he has a 4.45 ERA with a 42:8 K:BB across 32.1 innings. He'll take his next turn through the rotation Tuesday against Boston.

Fans eight over seven scoreless Eflin (2-1) earned the win Saturday against the Braves after allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts and zero walks over seven shutout innings.
Impact The 26-year-old delivered his best start of the season Saturday, as the only damage he gave up all afternoon came via a solo homer from Johan Camargo during the sixth inning. Eflin has a 4.10 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings, and he is expected to next start against the Nationals on Thursday.

Grabs win Sunday Eflin (1-1) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings to earn the win Sunday versus Atlanta.
Impact Eflin didn't pitch particularly deep into the game, but the Phillies' five runs were enough for him to leave with a lead. The 26-year-old now has a 5.12 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 19.1 innings this season. Eflin has allowed eight or more baserunners in three of his four starts this year. He'll look to limit them in his next turn out, which is expected to be a rematch with Atlanta on Saturday.
AUGUST 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Whiffs eight in no-decision Eflin gave up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight in four innings Tuesday versus the Red Sox. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Eflin needed 86 pitches (52 strikes) to get through his four innings in the high-scoring contest. The 26-year-old has been boom or bust through three starts -- he's got a 5.14 ERA and 23:5 K:BB in 14 innings this season. Eflin will look to limit the runs in his next time out, currently scheduled for Sunday in Atlanta.

Red Sox vs. Phillies lineup: It’s a Zach/k off This year stinks, man.
AUGUST 18, 2020 • OVERTHEMONSTER.COM
Mixed results in second start Eflin (0-1) allowed four earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out 10 across six innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Orioles.
Impact Eflin got through the Orioles' lineup one time cleanly, but ran into trouble thereafter. That began when he allowed a solo home run to Anthony Santander in the third inning, but continued with earned runs in both the fourth and fifth frames. More positively, he did throw 91 pitches and ended the outing with a clean sixth inning. He also showcased a strong ability to miss bats, racking up 19 swinging strikes to back up his 10 punch outs. Eflin currently lines up to draw his next start Tuesday at Boston.
AUGUST 13, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Solid in season debut Eflin did not factor in the decision against the Yankees on Thursday, tossing four innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five.
Impact Eflin missed the start of the season while dealing with back spasms, but he looked sharp against the potent Yankees offense in his first start, allowing only a pair of unearned runs in four frames. The right-hander departed with a lead but didn't go deep enough into the game to pick up the win, as he was limited to 77 pitches in the outing. Eflin will look to build upon his performance when he faces Baltimore at home Wednesday in his next scheduled start.
AUGUST 7, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared to start Tuesday Eflin (back) will start Tuesday against the Yankees, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Impact Back spasms popped up for Eflin in mid-July and put his readiness for the start of the season at some risk, though he was never shut down from throwing and has evidently continued to progress well. He threw 60 pitches in his final preseason tune-up, so he's likely to wind up throwing no more than 75 or 80 in his season debut.
JULY 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sim game goes well Eflin (back) pitched well in his simulated game Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Impact As expected, Eflin threw four innings and 60 pitches in his simulated game, and manager Joe Girardi said he threw the ball well. If the right-hander feels good Friday, he's expected to start Tuesday at the Yankees. Eflin battled back spasms that limited his workload during camp but appears to be tracking toward his return. If he wouldn't be ready for his first turn through the rotation, Nick Pivetta could start in his place.
JULY 23, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sim game on tap Eflin (back) is scheduled to throw a four-inning/60-pitch simulated game Thursday, which could determine his status for the first turn through the rotation, Meghan Montemurro of Th...
Impact The 26-year-old has been battling back spasms during summer camp, but he may not miss any regular season action if Thursday's sim game goes smoothly. If all goes well Eflin lines up to start Tuesday against the Yankees, though he likely would have a limited workload. Nick Pivetta should be next in line to start if Eflin isn't ready, since Spencer Howard was already transferred to the team's alternate training site.
JULY 22, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Battling back spasms Eflin is considered day-to-day due to back spasms, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact The issue doesn't appear to be serious, but it's prevented Eflin from facing hitters in any of the Phillies' intrasquad games. WIth Opening Day less than two weeks away, it's quite possible Eflin misses a turn in the rotation or is at least on a fairly low pitch count early on. With Zack Wheeler also set to miss time early due to the birth of his first child, there's a good chance both Vince Velasquez and Nick Pivetta are in the Phillies' rotation to start the year. Highly-rated prospect Spencer Howard could even get a chance right away, as well, despite the fact that he's yet to reach Triple-A.
