Moves to Double-A for rehab stint Diaz was transferred to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday to begin an informal rehab assignment after being on the 7-day injured list with turf toe, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Diaz has been out since the earlier portion of July with the toe issue, but he'll now head to Double-A to get a few games under his belt with Bowie. It doesn't sound like the club expects him to spend too much time at the lower level, so a promotion back to Triple-A Norfolk within the next few days seems possible.

Still considered day-to-day The Orioles are hopeful that Diaz (toe) will be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Impact Diaz is slated to miss a seventh consecutive game at Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday as he continues to deal with turf toe, but he could return to the lineup in the near future. The 24-year-old has missed several weeks this year due to a quadriceps strain along with his current injury.

Impact Diaz dealt with a quadriceps strain earlier in the season, which has limited him to only 113 plate appearances between Double-A and Triple-A. It's unclear how long his current injury may sideline him. Across 92 plate appearances with Norfolk this season, Diaz has hit .167/.228/.274.

Ready for rehab assignment Diaz (quadriceps) is slated to begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie this week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Diaz will presumably appear in a handful of contests for Bowie this week, and if his right quad responds well to game action, Triple-A Norfolk will reinstate him from its 7-day injured list. Before landing on the shelf in early May, Diaz appeared in six games for Norfolk and went 5-for-25 with a home run and six RBI.

Impact Diaz hasn't been able to take the field since May 9 since suffering the injury. The team has yet to issue a timetable for his return to play.

Impact The 24-year-old outfielder hit .261 with a home run, 11 strikeouts and three walks in 23 at-bats this spring. That quantity of strikeouts is mildly concerning, even in a small sample. This could be a make-or-break year for Diaz, as he's been languishing in the upper levels of the minors for several years.
