Impact Chang didn't appear in any of the last three games, and he'll now be sidelined with an undisclosed injury. A timetable for Chang's return to action isn't yet clear.

Impact He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Opening Day. Chang and Oscar Mercado seem like the two weakest links in Cleveland's primary group of hitters, so when Mercado starts in the outfield, as he is Saturday, Amed Rosario will shift to the infield and push Chang to the bench.

Impact Chang will be rewarded with an Opening Day start after he turned in a big spring training that included a .925 OPS over 36 at-bats in Cactus League play. The 26-year-old has typically seen most of his starts against left-handed pitchers over his last three seasons in the big leagues, but he'll be in the lineup versus a righty (Zack Greinke) on Thursday. Chang will likely need to prove he can hold his owns against righties for an extended stretch to hold down a full-time role, as the Guardians would have the ability to move Amed Rosario from left field to the middle infield if Chang can't get the job done at the plate.

Steady in spring Chang is hitting .438 with two home runs, two doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored through six Cactus League games.

Impact Chang once again enters the 2022 campaign without a guaranteed spot in the lineup. The 26-year-old bounced between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus last season, posting a lackluster .228/.267/.426 slash line across 251 plate appearances in the majors. He's a versatile defender capable of playing all around the infield, but his best path to playing time this season is likely a short-side platoon at either first base with Bobby Bradley or second base with Andres Gimenez. Owen Miller and Ernie Clement will also likely push Chang for a bench role for the remainder of spring training.
