Four straight multi-hit games
Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 extra-inning win over Miami.
Impact
Hernandez hit three singles in the contest and added a stolen base in the ninth inning. The 33-year-old outfielder is 9-for-15 (.600) with a home run and three RBI and three runs scored in his last four games. Prior to his recent success at the plate, he had just one hit, a double, in his first 10 at-bats. He's not much of a speed threat either -- Hernandez's stolen base Friday was the first of his career in 24 total games.

Launches homer in loss
Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's loss against the Blue Jays.
Impact
The 33-year-old continues to strengthen his case for a roster spot once Juan Soto (shoulder) returns to action and launched his third homer of the season, while also registering his third straight multi-hit game. He's hitting .333 with a .924 OPS and while the sample size is small (25 plate appearances), he might have done enough to carve a bench role moving forward.

Could stick in majors
Hernandez is hitting well enough to stay on the big-league roster even after Juan Soto (shoulder) returns to action, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
The Nats would have to create a spot on the roster for him, but they're currently carrying two fairly interchangeable utility infielders in Jordy Mercer and Hernan Perez, one of whom could be bumped aside by Hernandez. The 33-year-old would give the team a better left-handed bench bat and could see occasional starts in left or right field, but his fantasy value will remain minimal regardless.

On base four times Sunday
Hernandez went 2-for-2 with two walks in Sunday's loss to the Mets.
Impact
The 33-year-old did everything he could to spark the Nats' offense while hitting second, but the rest of the lineup only managed three hits. Hernandez has four hits in the last two games as he takes advantage of the opportunity presented by Juan Soto's shoulder injury, but with Soto potentially back by the end of the month, his window for fantasy value is small.

Starting in right field
Hernandez will start in right field and bat second for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Impact
Hernandez was called up to provide outfield depth in the absence of Juan Soto (shoulder). He'll draw his second consecutive start after going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Saturday.

Late promotion Tuesday
Hernandez was recalled from the alternate training site Tuesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact
The 33-year-old will rejoin the Nationals on Tuesday after spending the past week at the alternate training site since Juan Soto landed on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder strain. Hernandez is 1-for-7 through five appearances this season and should provide outfield depth for Washington.

Unlikely hero in nightcap Tuesday
Hernandez got the start at DH and went 2-for-4 with a double and a walkoff two-run home run during an 8-7 extra-inning win over the Phillies in the second game of Tuesday's doubleh...
Impact
The 32-year-old rookie didn't make an appearance during the matinee but he was the hero in the nightcap, collecting his first big-league RBI with a fourth-inning double before crushing a Brandon Workman offering into the bullpen in right field in the eighth to end the ballgame. To add to the drama, the walkoff blast kept the Nats from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs as they swept the twin bill. Hernandez is now hitting .250 (3-for-12) through his first seven games in the majors, and all three hits have gone for extra bases (two doubles and a homer).

Recalled by Nationals
Hernandez was recalled by the Nationals on Monday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Hernandez was called up as the 29th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Marlins, but he'll remain on the major-league roster in the coming days as well. He made appearances in both games of the twin bill Monday and went 1-for-1 with a double. He should serve in a depth role in the outfield.

Sent back to secondary site
Hernandez was optioned by the Nationals on Friday, Alex Chappell of MASN reports.
Impact
Hernandez earned his first career callup last week but failed to grab a hit in any of his seven at-bats. Whether or not he receives another chance to do so this season remains to be seen. Andrew Stevenson was recalled in a corresponding move and will fill his role as a bench outfielder.
