Impact Edwards will add some versatility to the Marlins' position player mix with Jazz Chisholm (toe) facing at least a month-long absence. Edwards, 23, has batted .316/.431/.390 with zero homers and eight steals in 26 games this season at the Triple-A level. He stands 1-for-6 through three major-league games.

Returns to minors Edwards was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Edwards received his first promotion to the big leagues Tuesday and went 1-for-6 with a run and a strikeout in three games during his brief time in the majors. Joey Wendle (ribs) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
