Corey Seager returns from a 23-game IL stint as Rangers gear up for a pivotal Astros series

Shortstop Corey Seager was activated from the injured list Friday along with several other moves made by the Texas Rangers ahead of their pivotal series with the Houston Astros
13 HOURS AGO • Associated Press
Sent back to minors The Rangers optioned Santos to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Impact Santos' stint with the big club lasted only one day, and he did not make an appearance. He could join the rotation at Round Rock.
14 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Back in big-league bullpen The Rangers recalled Santos from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Impact Santos made his major-league debut earlier this month, allowing two runs over a two-inning relief outing. The righty has a big arm, but he's logged a 7.16 ERA between Double- and Triple-A this season and is likely to be used in low-leverage spots.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Relegated to Triple-A The Rangers optioned Santos to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Impact Santos will head down to Triple-A after making his MLB debut Wednesday, during which he gave up two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one batter across two innings. His move to Triple-A will work as somewhat of a promotion, as he spent most of the first half at Double-A Frisco, posting a 7.44 ERA and 1.78 WHIP over 42.1 frames. Ben Peoples was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move.

Rangers Finally Give Winston Santos Chance to Make Major League Debut It wouldn't be unfair to accuse the Texas Rangers of forgetting about Winston Santos.
JULY 1 • SI.COM
Summoned to big leagues The Rangers recalled Santos from Double-A Frisco on Wednesday.
Impact Santos has made 11 starts with Frisco this season, posting a 7.44 ERA and 58:21 K:BB over 42.1 innings. The 24-year-old will provide bullpen protection for the Rangers and will be making his major-league debut if he gets into a game.
JUNE 24 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for season debut Santos (hand) will make his season debut with Double-A Frisco on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Impact Santos is finally ready to pitch in a game after recovering from a fractured left (non-throwing) hand that he suffered in late February. Slated to turn 24 next week, Santos is on the Rangers' 40-man roster and has a chance to debut at some point this season.

MARCH 2 • MLB.COM
Optioned to Double-A The Rangers optioned Santos (hand) to Double-A Frisco on Monday.
Impact Santos was almost surely going to begin the season in the minors regardless, but his fate was sealed when he suffered a fractured left (non-throwing) hand in late February. The injury is expected to sideline him until late March, so he could need a little time to get ramped up before joining the active roster at Frisco.
MARCH 2 • ROTOWIRE
Out for four weeks Santos will be sidelined for four weeks after sustaining a fracture in his non-throwing hand, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Santos was hit by a comebacker earlier this week, and he'll be sidelined for roughly a month. The 23-year-old appeared in just six games last season, making five starts at Double-A Frisco and one start at Triple-A Round Rock. He allowed 13 earned runs across 17.1 innings.
FEBRUARY 21 • ROTOWIRE
Closes season healthy Santos (back) posted an 8.49 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB In 11.2 innings over four appearances between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock upon being activated from Frisco's 7...
Impact Santos had been on the shelf for more than four months due to a stress reaction in his back, which he sustained following his second start of the season with Frisco. Due to the extended time Santos missed, the Rangers sent him to the Arizona Fall League, where he submitted a 5.28 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 14.1 innings. The 23-year-old righty will be heading into his second straight season as a member of the Rangers' 40-man roster, but he's unlikely to seriously contend for an Opening Day spot with the big club and will likely be ticketed for the Round Rock rotation to begin the 2026 campaign.
NOVEMBER 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on Double-A IL Santos was placed on the minor league 7-day injured list Wednesday with a back injury, Kenndi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact Santos suffered a stress reaction in his back and is estimated to be out for at least eight-to-10 weeks. The organization plans to get a second opinion, but the play for now is rest and recovery. The 23-year-old right-hander had a promising 2024, when he posted a 3.67 ERA between stops at High-A Hickory and Double-A Frisco. He also pitched in the All-Star Futures Game. In his two starts for Frisco prior to the injury, Santos had a 3.18 ERA with 11 strikeouts across 5.2 innings.

MARCH 16, 2025 • MLB.COM
Sent to Frisco The Rangers optioned Santos to Double-A Frisco on Sunday.
Impact Texas protected Santos from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter by adding him to the 40-man roster, but the 22-year-old righty is still in need of some further seasoning in the upper levels of the minors before making his MLB debut. He'll return to Frisco to open the 2025 campaign after he turned in a 4.89 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 57:14 K:BB over his 46 innings at the Double-A level following his late-June promotion from High-A Hickory.
