Impact The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Spencer Howard, who was acquired via trade Friday. Parsons has posted a career 6.84 ERA over 38 appearances across parts of four major-league seasons.

Called up from Triple-A The Guardians recalled Parsons from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Impact After serving as the 27th man for the Guardians' doubleheader with the Yankees this past Saturday, Parsons was returned to Columbus a day later. He'll be eligible to rejoin the Guardians ahead of Wednesday's game in Boston because Cleveland placed fellow reliever Eli Morgan (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Parsons has covered at least two innings in all three of his MLB appearances this season between the Blue Jays and Guardians and should serve as a long reliever/mop-up man during his upcoming stint in the Cleveland bullpen.

Hit hard in spot start Parsons (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Rays after allowing nine runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three over four innings.

Impact Parsons allowed a run in the opening frame before the Rays tagged him for seven more in the second, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Jonathan Aranda. He wound up surrendering a second home run to Manuel Margot in the fourth before his day was done. Parsons has struggled with every major league opportunity he's received since debuting in 2018 and did not fare well at Triple-A Buffalo either, posting a 4.52 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 98:45 K:BB over 81.2 innings.

Inks minors deal with Jays Parsons signed a minor-league contract Wednesday with the Blue Jays.

Impact Parsons spent the 2021-2022 seasons with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization and pitched to a 3.68 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 191:84 K:BB across 176 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander last appeared in a major-league game with the Rockies in 2019. He'll provide organizational depth for Toronto.
