Serving as DHSouza (foot) will bat ninth as Houston's designated hitter in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactSouza is likely still dealing with some residual soreness after fouling a ball off his foot over the weekend, but the Astros don't seem overly concerned about the issue. He made an appearance off the bench as a pinch hitter in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Nationals, drawing a walk in his lone at-bat. He'll now get the chance to re-enter the starting nine, but the Astros will err on the side of caution and limit him to an offense-only role while he manages the injury. Expect Souza to pick up a start in the outfield in the next few days.

Enters spring lineupParra (knee) will start in left field and will bat sixth in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactParra will be making his spring debut after the Nationals deliberately eased him along up to this point in camp while he worked back from offseason surgery on his right knee. After spending the 2020 campaign with Japan with the Yomiuri Giants, Parra returned stateside this winter, joining the Nationals on a minor-league deal. He's competing for a role with the big club as a fifth outfielder.

Named Opening Day starterManager Dusty Baker announced Monday that Greinke will start Opening Day against the A's, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactWith Justin Verlander (elbow) out for the season, this announcement was merely a formality, as Greinke will be the Astros' ace in 2021. It was also announced Monday that Greinke will be away from the team for the next few days for "personal reasons," but according to Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest, that should not affect his throwing program.
