Slugs first MLB home run
Drawing the start at third base, Capra cranked a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Yankees.
Impact
Capra won an Opening Day roster spot with a huge showing in spring training which saw him slug six home runs. He carried that over into the opener in his first plate appearance when he lined one over the left-field wall off Carlos Rodon to lead off the top of the third inning. It was the first major-league homer for Capra, who struck out and grounded out in his other two plate appearances before being pinch-hit for in the ninth inning. Capra looks to be on the short side of a platoon at third base with Oliver Dunn, but he can play his way into a larger role.

Gets Opening Day start
Capra will start at third base and bat eighth in Thursday's season opener versus the Yankees.
Impact
Capra emerged from spring training with a spot on the Opening Day roster after he turned in a 1.087 OPS with six home runs and two steals across 55 plate appearances in Cactus League play. Though he'll be included in the lineup for the opener, the right-handed-hitting Capra could end up serving as a shot-side platoon mate for the lefty-hitting Oliver Dunn, who will take a seat Thursday while southpaw Carlos Rodon takes the hill for the Yankees. Capra will also provide the Brewers with some backup help at shortstop and second base.

Socks fourth spring homer
Capra went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a stolen base in Monday's exhibition contest.
Impact
Few players have been as hot this spring as Capra, who is now up to four homers and two steals despite getting just 17 at-bats. The journeyman has appeared in just 20 big-league games and figures to open the regular season with Triple-A Nashville, but he does occupy a spot on Milwaukee's 40-man roster, so he remains in the mix for the time being.

Optioned to Nashville
The Brewers optioned Capra to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Impact
The move makes room on the 26-man roster for Joey Ortiz (neck), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Capra started in two of three games for the Brewers after being called up from Nashville on July 3, going 1-for-9 with one run and three strikeouts.

Recalled from Nashville
The Brewers recalled Capra from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Impact
With Joey Ortiz (neck) headed to the injured list, Capra will join the major-league squad in order to replenish the Brewers' infield depth. The 27-year-old has spent all season with Nashville, slashing .242/.331/.345 with 25 RBI over 302 plate appearances. Andruw Monasterio will likely start most days while Ortiz is out, but Capra may see some playing time against left-handed hitters in place of the lefty-hitting Brice Turang.

Claimed by Milwaukee
The Brewers claimed Capra off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday.
Impact
Capra, 27, has logged only 28 career plate appearances at the major-league level, but he put up an encouraging .329/.412/.439 batting line over 49 games with the Triple-A affiliate of the Pirates in 2023. He'll function as organizational infield depth for Milwaukee.

Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Capra to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
Impact
The return of Henry Davis (hand) from the injured list will push Capra off the active roster and back to the minors. Capra has played in just nine games this season for Pittsburgh, going 3-for-18 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Capra to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Impact
Bailey Falter was added in place of Capra, who got the start at second base Friday and went 0-for-3 with a walk. It was the 27-year-old's third career start in the major leagues. He's put together a decent campaign at Triple-A between Buffalo and Indianapolis (.287/.421/.395) and may get another look before the end of the season.

Selected to MLB roster
The Pirates selected Capra's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Impact
Capra was traded from Toronto to Pittsburgh in late April and has since slashed .350/.457/.485 through 127 plate appearances with Indianapolis. The 27-year-old's defensive versatility could get him into the Pirates' lineup occasionally if his bat holds up in the majors.

Traded from Toronto
Capra was acquired by the Pirates on Sunday from the Blue Jays in exchange for Tyler Heineman.
Impact
Capra came up short in his bid to win a roster spot with the Blue Jays in the Grapefruit League after appearing in eight games with Toronto in 2022, and he struggled to a .167/.357/.222 slash with Triple-A Buffalo to begin the 2023 campaign. He'll offer the Pirates some organizational depth with the ability to play all over the infield and also the corner outfield.

Misses out on Opening Day roster
The Blue Jays reassigned Capra to minor-league camp Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact
Capra is expected to begin the season at Triple-A Buffalo after missing out on his bid for a bench role on the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster. With Toronto also optioned Otto Lopez to Buffalo on Tuesday, outfielder Nathan Lukes appears to have clinched the final reserve spot on the big club's season-opening squad.

Re-ups with Toronto
Capra re-signed Sunday with the Blue Jays on a minor-league contract, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact
Non-tendered by Toronto just a few days ago, Capra will rejoin the Blue Jays, albeit no longer as a member of the 40-man roster. His minor-league deal presumably includes an invitation to big-league spring training, where he'll be vying for a reserve spot in an outfield that no longer includes Teoscar Hernandez, Raimel Tapia or Bradley Zimmer. Capra appeared in eight games for the big club in 2022 but otherwise spent the majority of the campaign at Triple-A Buffalo, where he produced a .789 OPS over 225 plate appearances.

ROTOWIRE
Non-tendered by Toronto
The Blue Jays declined to tender Capra a contract for 2023.
Impact
Capra got his first look in the big leagues last season but saw most of his action with Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .283/.378/.403 in 52 games before undergoing left middle finger tendon surgery. He doesn't have pedigree on his side as a 20th-round pick in 2018. Capra will have to prove his health and fight for additional MLB opportunities.

ROTOWIRE
Sent down Thursday
Capra was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.
Impact
Capra joined the Blue Jays' active roster in late April, but he appeared in just eight games during his time in the majors and went 1-for-5 with two runs, two walks and a strikeout. He should see more consistent playing time in the minors, while Cavan Biggio was recalled by Toronto on Thursday.
