Outrighted to Triple-A The Mets outrighted Brujan to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Brujan has the ability to elect free agency, but he accepted an outright assignment by the Mets previously and could do so again. If he does stick around in the organization, Brujan will give the Mets utility depth. The 28-year-old is a career .197/.266/.272 hitter over parts of six major-league seasons.
JUNE 18 • ROTOWIRE
Designated for assignment The Mets designated Brujan for assignment Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports.
Impact The club claimed Zack Short off waivers Monday, and Short can essentially fill Brujan's role as a reserve. Brujan was called up by the Mets in early May but has played sparingly, accruing only 13 plate appearances in more than six weeks.

MJ Melendez comes off the bench and powers the Mets past the Marlins 9-7 in 10 innings

MJ Melendez hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning to give the New York Mets a 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins after squandering a four-run lead

After trading leads with the Washington Nationals for 11 innings, the New York Mets scored 10 times in the 12th on their way to a 16-7 victory

Mets place infielder Ronny Mauricio on IL with thumb fracture, call up Vidal Brujan from Triple-A

The New York Mets placed infielder Ronny Mauricio on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left thumb fracture and selected the contract of infielder Vidal Brujan from Triple-A Syr...
MAY 3 • Associated Press
Summoned from Triple-A The Mets selected Brujan's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
Impact The addition of Brujan gives the Mets another option at shortstop beyond Bo Bichette after Ronny Mauricio (thumb) joined Francisco Lindor (calf) on the 10-day injured list Sunday. Though Bichette has played almost exclusively at third base this season, he has plenty of experience at shortstop and will start at the position in Sunday's series finale in Anaheim. If the Mets are comfortable enough with Bichette's defense at shortstop, Brujan will likely fill a utility role while he's up in the majors and won't be in store for regular reps.

NY Mets tab Vidal Brujan to fill void with Ronny Mauricio headed to IL The New York Mets’ roster has been decimated by setbacks, forcing the club to turn to Vidal Bruján to plug the hole at shortstop left by the...
MAY 3 • BOLAVIP.COM
Sent outright to Triple-A The Mets outrighted Brujan to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact He's no longer on the 40-man roster, but Brujan will remain in the organization after clearing waivers. The utility player has managed just a .199/.267/.276 batting line across parts of five seasons at the major-league level.

Paul Skenes thinking playoffs for Pirates on eve of opener vs. Freddy Peralta and new-look Mets

On the eve of opening day, Paul Skenes set forth lofty goals for the Pittsburgh Pirates
MARCH 25 • Associated Press
Scrubbed from 40-man roster The Mets designated Brujan for assignment Wednesday.
Impact Brujan got on base at a .400 clip this spring, but that wasn't enough to win a reserve role in New York. The utility player has bounced around to multiple organization and has yet to establish himself at the big-league level, sporting a .199/.267/.276 batting line across parts of five seasons.
MARCH 25 • ROTOWIRE
Roster spot could be safe Brujan appears likely to fill the last spot on the Mets' bench with Mike Tauchman (knee) headed for surgery, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact Tauchman's strong spring, along with an even more impressive camp for top prospect Carson Benge, put Brujan's spot on the 26-man roster in jeopardy, as New York could have gone without a backup shortstop and relied on players like Bo Bichette or Marcus Semien to cover the position when Francisco Lindor (hand) was unavailable. Instead, Brujan's job now appears safe. The 28-year-old switch hitter has batted .273 (9-for-33) this spring with four steals in four attempts, and his speed and defensive versatility will be his biggest assets on the Mets' bench -- Brujan played every position on the diamond except catcher and first base in 2025.
MARCH 22 • ROTOWIRE
Back in action Wednesday Brujan (hand) is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
Impact Brujan had to depart Monday's contest versus the Blue Jays with a hand injury, but he's back in action Wednesday. The utility player is out of minor-league options and in the running for a reserve role this season in Queens.
FEBRUARY 25 • ROTOWIRE
Exits with hand injury Brujan was removed in the sixth inning of Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays due to an apparent hand injury, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports. He w...
Impact Brujan appeared to suffer the injury when his hand got stepped on by a Blue Jays infielder on a stolen-base attempt in the top of the sixth. The 27-year-old drew the start at shortstop Monday, and assuming the hand injury isn't anything too significant, Brujan could break camp as the Mets' top option at the position if Francisco Lindor (hand) isn't ready to go for Opening Day.
FEBRUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Could get early look at shortstop Brujan is one of the top candidates to fill in for Francisco Lindor (hand) at shortstop, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact Ronny Mauricio, Grae Kessinger and Jackson Cluff will also be in the mix for spring reps at short while Lindor recovers from hamate bone surgery. Brujan has experience all over the diamond as a utility player and posted a UZR/150 of 4.6 over 237 innings at shortstop with the Marlins in 2024, and the switch hitter might be the Mets' best defensive option to cover for Lindor.
FEBRUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Finds new home with Mets Brujan was traded from the Twins to the Mets in exchange for cash considerations Thursday.
Impact Brujan was designated for assignment by the Twins on Wednesday, but he found a new home quickly. He'll likely serve as organizational depth, though Brujan could have the chance to compete for a bench role during spring training thanks to his defensive versatility.

Twins acquire infielder Tristan Gray in trade with Red Sox for minor league catcher

The Minnesota Twins have acquired infielder Tristan Gray in a trade with the Boston Red Sox for minor league catcher Nate Baez
JANUARY 21 • Associated Press
Designated for assignment The Twins designated Brujan for assignment Wednesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Impact Just one week after being claimed off waivers, Brujan is off the 40-man roster in favor of Tristan Gray, who was acquired via trade from the Red Sox on Wednesday. The defensively-versatile Brujan is a career .199/.267/.276 hitter across parts of five seasons.

Twins claim versatile infielder Vidal Brujan off waivers from Braves

The Minnesota Twins have claimed infielder Vidal Bruján off waivers from the Atlanta Braves
JANUARY 15 • Associated Press
Claimed off waivers by Twins The Twins claimed Brujan off waivers from Atlanta on Wednesday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Brujan has yet to show much of anything offensively at the major-league level, slashing .199/.267/.276 across parts of five seasons. He is able to play all over the diamond, giving the Twins defensive versatility off the bench.
JANUARY 14 • ROTOWIRE
Removed from 40-man roster Atlanta designated Brujan for assignment Thursday.
Impact The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Ken Waldichuk, who was claimed off waivers. Brujan has a lackluster .199/.267/.276 career batting line across parts of five big-league seasons, but he could draw interest on waivers due to his defensive versatility.
JANUARY 8 • ROTOWIRE
Re-signs to split contract Brujan (hip) signed a one-year split contract with Atlanta on Thursday.
Impact The split contract is a minor-league deal that will allow Brujan to get a higher salary whenever he's on the major-league roster. The utility man had been a non-tender candidate prior to agreeing to the contract Thursday. Brujan ended the 2025 campaign dealing with a hip injury, but it isn't expected to linger into spring training.
NOVEMBER 21, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
On bench for season finale Brujan (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Impact Brujan hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 21 after leaving the contest with right hip tightness. It's unclear if the injury remains an issue or if he simply hasn't been needed on the field. Assuming he doesn't enter Sunday's contest, the 27-year-old will finish the year with a .253/.305/.310 slash line in 95 plate appearances spanning stints with Atlanta, the Orioles and the Cubs.
