Turning heads with speed Scott has gone 3-for-15 with three walks, a triple and two stolen bases over six Grapefruit League games.

Impact Scott's speed has allowed him to log four runs as well despite the Cardinals' relatively anemic spring offense. The 23-year-old combined for 95 stolen bases over 132 games between High-A Peoria and Double-A Springfield in 2023, with speed being his No. 1 trait. He also has a good hit tool and reliable plate discipline. Scott will need to be tested at Triple-A Memphis first, but a 2024 debut is not out of the question, while a larger major-league role is expected to come in 2025 -- unless he forces the issue with his bat.

Runs way to Double-A The Cardinals promoted Scott from High-A Peoria to Double-A Springfield on Monday.

Impact The 22-year-old outfielder will make the jump to the Texas League after he terrorized opposing pitchers on the basepaths -- he stole a minor-league-leading 50 bags on 57 attempts -- while holding his own at the plate (.757 OPS, 9.5 BB%, 16.9 K%, 121 wRC+ in 308 plate appearances). Scott will need to continue to get on base at a steady clip against upper-level minor-league pitching in order to profile as a potential everyday player in the majors, but at the very least, his premium speed should allow him to emerge as a useful weapon off the bench.

Impact The 22-year-old outfielder was a fifth-round pick in last year's draft, but it seems like the Cardinals may have gotten a steal. A left-handed hitter, Scott is one of the better athletes in all the minors and is a top-of-the-scale runner, so his stolen-base total carries more weight than that of many lower-level prospects who take advantage of batteries that can't control the run game. Scott's .129 ISO represents an area of weakness, but his 16.1 percent strikeout rate and 9.3 percent walk rate are respectable marks, even for an older hitter in the Florida State League.
