Optioned to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Impact Bellozo made two starts for the Marlins, permitting five runs with a 10:1 K:BB over 10 innings of work. His turn in the rotation will come up Sunday and it's not clear at this point who Miami intends to use to fill that slot.

Strikes out eight in loss Bellozo (0-1) took the loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over five innings.

Impact Bellozo generated a solid 12 swinging strikes on 98 pitches and has walked just one batter over 10 major-league innings. He was burned by two rough frames, allowing a two-run single in the first and a three-run home run in the fourth. While it is unclear how long the rookie will remain in Miami's rotation, he tentatively lines up for a favorable matchup against the White Sox this weekend.

Sharp in MLB debut Bellozo came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Royals, allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Impact The 24-year-old righty has walked just one batter over his last three starts at Triple-A prior to his promotion, and Bellozo brought that sharp command with him into his big-league debut, tossing 46 of 72 pitches for strikes. He pitched well enough to get the win and left the mound with the Marlins nursing a 1-0 lead, but Huascar Brazoban blew the save in the eighth inning. Bellozo figures to get at least one more turn in Miami's injury-ravaged rotation, lining him up for another start early next week at home against the Red Sox.

Debuting Wednesday The Marlins will promote Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville to start against the Royals on Wednesday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact The Marlins acquired Bellozo in a trade with Houston during April, and he'll now get a chance to make his MLB debut as the Marlins continue to work with a depleted pitching staff. The 24-year-old righty hasn't found much success since getting promoted to Triple-A in May, posting a 5.66 ERA and 1.39 WHIP alongside an 18:8 K:BB through 20.2 innings. Miami's injury situation makes it possible Bellozo starts multiple games for the Marlins, though his minor-league struggles make him hard to trust from a fantasy perspective.
