Two homers in win Fitzgerald went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 11-4 win over the Rockies.

Impact Fitzgerald continues to put together a stunning surge in the second half. Dating back to July 9, he has at least one extra-base hit (seven homers, two doubles, one triple) in eight straight games. He's up to a .330/.400/.660 slash line with eight long balls, 18 RBI, 24 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 42 contests this year. Fitzgerald's playing time also looks to be more secure moving forward after Thairo Estrada (wrist) landed on the injured list Friday. Look for Fitzgerald to handle a starting role at shortstop while Brett Wisely and Casey Schmitt share second base for the time being.

Impact Fitzgerald kept his home run magic going with a solo blast to left in the second inning and later drove in a second run in the ninth with a single. He's now homered in five straight games, becoming the first Giants rookie to accomplish such a feat and becoming the first Giant to do it since Barry Bonds homered in seven straight in 2004. Impact Fitzgerald has a crowded path to the majors, especially after the Giants signed Jorge Soler and Matt Chapman. Fitzgerald's best asset is versatility -- he can provide cover in the infield and in center field. Even then, Marco Luciano, Casey Schmitt or Nick Ahmed are more likely to get chances at shortstop, the Giants' most open position this spring. The 26-year-old Fitzgerald hit .219 over 10 games in the majors last season, but he'll likely need to bide his time at Triple-A Sacramento again in 2024.
