Concedes three runs in no-decision Anderson took a no-decision Monday against the Cardinals. He struck out four over five innings while allowing three runs on six hits and two walks.
Impact The Angels southpaw tossed 91 pitches, including 61 strikes, while inducing 10 whiffs during his season debut in St. Louis. However, Anderson struggled to contain the long ball as Lars Nootbaar and Brendan Donovan -- both left-handed batters -- hit solo shots in the first and second innings, respectively. After pitching to a 7.41 ERA and 1.65 WHIP across 17 innings in the spring, Anderson still has some tuning up to do before he makes his next start against the Guardians at home this weekend.

Spring struggles continue Anderson allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings in a Cactus League game against the Athletics on Friday.
Impact Anderson served up a solo homer to Shane Langeliers in the first inning, then retired only one of the five batters he faced in the second. The lefty was temporarily pulled, but under spring training rules he was allowed to re-enter the contest. Though Anderson was able to get through two more innings without allowing a run, he loaded the bases without retiring a batter in the fifth frame, and all three runners came around to score after his departure. Anderson hasn't been sharp this spring, as he's posted a 10.64 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB over 11 innings. Nonetheless, his veteran status limits the level of concern about his performance in exhibition play, and Anderson is locked into a spot near the top of the Angels' regular-season rotation.

Yields one run in spring debut Anderson allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter in a spring start against Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Impact Anderson allowed two doubles through three batters to allow a run, but he settled down after that and retired five of the final six hitters he faced. The veteran lefty is coming off an All-Star campaign during which he posted a 3.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 142:73 K:BB over 179.2 innings. Anderson is penciled in for a spot near the top of the Angels' rotation along with new teammate Yusei Kikuchi.

Endures nightmare inning Anderson (10-15) took the loss Thursday against the White Sox, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact Anderson blanked Chicago through four innings, but his start went downhill in the fifth frame. Five of the six batters Anderson faced reached safely and he was knocked out of the contest after allowing a two-RBI single to Andrew Vaughn and a two-RBI double to Lenyn Sosa back-to-back. With three games left on the Angels' schedule, Anderson's 2024 season has ended. He'll finish the campaign with a 3.81 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 142:73 K:BB across 179.1 innings.

Hammered by Houston Anderson (10-14) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs (three earned) on eight hits over 2.2 innings as the Angels were downed 9-7 by the Astros. He struck out four.
Impact The southpaw's own error helped cushion the blow to his ERA, but Anderson got hit hard before getting the hook after 75 pitches (50 strikes), with both Alex Bregman and Jake Meyers taking him deep in the third inning. Anderson hasn't lasted more than five innings in any of his last five outings, stumbling to a 5.82 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 21:12 K:BB through 21.2 innings over that stretch. He lines up to make his final start of 2024 on the road next week against the White Sox.

Shaky in loss Anderson (10-13) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.
Impact Anderson got knocked around in the opening frame, giving up a bunt single to Jose Altuve to lead things off before eventually seeing him come home after throwing a wild pitch. The lefty would also allow two walks and a double in the inning, but managed to escape without sustaining any further damage. His luck would run out in the fifth, however, after he again surrendered a leadoff single to Jose Altuve, followed by a two-run blast to Yordan Alvarez. Anderson has now lost three of his last four decisions (spanning six starts), allowing four or more runs four times over that stretch. He's also issued multiple walks six-consecutive outings and hasn't gotten through six innings in four straight.

Fans seven in no-decision Anderson allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Saturday.
Impact Anderson wasn't very efficient in the outing, needing 92 pitches to get through five frames and throwing just 58 of those offerings for strikes. However, he managed to carry a no-hitter into the fifth inning and allowed just four baserunners overall (on two walks, a double and a fielding error). Anderson also racked up an impressive 17 whiffs en route to seven punchouts. The left-hander has recorded a 3.50 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 132:67 K:BB through 167.1 innings on the season.

Has shortest outing of campaign Anderson did not factor into the decision in a win over Seattle on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over four innings while striking out three.
Impact Anderson was victimized by leadoff homers in both the second and fourth innings, with the latter kicking off a three-run frame for the Mariners. The veteran southpaw would not return for the fifth inning after needing 83 pitches to get through four, marking his shortest outing of the season. Anderson has now given up four or more runs in three of his last four starts in addition to issuing multiple free passes in four straight. He finishes the month of August with a 5.97 ERA while going 2-3 and posting a 26:16 K:BB.

Stuck with loss Sunday Anderson (10-12) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss versus the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Impact Anderson wasn't poor in this start, but he was inefficient in needing 97 pitches (64 strikes) to cover five frames. Toronto took the lead for good when Anderson allowed an RBI double to Vladimir Guerrero in the fifth inning. This was Anderson's fourth loss in his last six outings, a span that's seen him surrender 21 runs (20 earned) over 34.2 innings. He's now at a 3.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 122:62 K:BB through 158.1 innings over 26 starts this season. The southpaw's next start is projected to be at home versus the Mariners.

Collects 10th win Anderson (10-11) allowed five runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out two over six-plus innings to earn the win over the Royals on Tuesday.
Impact Anderson's outing was much better than the final line indicates, but he was on the hook for all three of the Royals' runs in the seventh inning. He's now allowed 12 runs over his last 11.2 innings, by far the worst two-start stretch of his season. Still, the southpaw has been a bright spot in the Angels' rotation with a 3.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 119:58 K:BB through 153.1 innings over 25 starts this year. Anderson is projected to make his next start at Toronto.

Surrenders season-high seven runs Anderson (9-11) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks over 5.2 innings while striking out eight.
Impact The Blue Jays got to Anderson early and often Wednesday, tagging the veteran for runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings while the Angels' offense struggled to get anything going in support. The lefty surrendered a season-high seven runs on the night while surrendering multiple home runs for the first time in his last five starts. Anderson's four walks in the contest were the most he's issued since June 25 against the Athletics (span of seven starts) and he's now allowed multiple free passes in two of his last three outings. On a positive note, Anderson has gone at least five innings in seven consecutive starts.
AUGUST 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tames Yankees for ninth victory Anderson (9-10) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.
Impact Anderson surrendered a solo homer to Jazz Chisholm in the second inning but otherwise had little trouble with New York's lineup. The left-handed hurler notched his third quality start over his past eight contests and brought his ERA back down to a sub-3.00 mark at 2.99. One of Anderson's flaws in fantasy over the course of his career has been his low strikeout numbers, but he's seen an uptick in that category of late, as Thursday marked the fourth time over his past six outings that he's recorded at least seven punchouts. In fact, he has racked up a healthy 42 strikeouts across his past 37.2 frames.

Tagged with 10th loss Anderson (8-10) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss versus the Mets on Friday.
Impact Anderson is now up to 10 losses in the season, making him the 12th starter this season with double-digit losses. The 2024 All-Star still carries a 3.05 ERA, which is the best of any of those starters with 10 or more losses. Anderson's recent home/away splits have been puzzling though, as he's now given up 19 runs in his last five home starts while only allowing four runs in his five most recent road starts.
AUGUST 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fans 10 in losing effort Anderson (8-9) took the loss against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out 10.
Impact All three runs charged to Anderson came across in the first inning when he allowed two of the first three batters to reach before surrendering a three-run homer to Shea Langeliers. The lefty would then allow just three singles and a walk over six scoreless frames to close out his night, but still ended up taking his ninth loss as the Angels' offense produced just one run in the contest. Anderson induced 17 whiffs in the loss, racking up 10 strikeouts for the second time in his last four starts. He's also gone at least six innings in three of his last four outings and currently holds a 2.70 ERA in July to go along with a robust 32:2 K:BB.
