Dodgers place ace Clayton Kershaw on IL

Clayton Kershaw is heading to the injured list. What does that mean for the Los Angeles Dodgers?

Dodgers place ace Clayton Kershaw on IL
Allows seven runs in no-decision Anderson pitched six innings against Philadelphia on Thursday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out five. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact The left-hander came into Thursday having allowed two or fewer runs in each of his first five appearances this season, but he allowed four runs through the first two frames against Philadelphia. Single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth added to an ugly final line for Anderson, though a late-game comeback by the Dodgers took him off the hook for a loss. Anderson has been filling the rotation spot left by Andrew Heaney (shoulder), and though the latter recently resume throwing, Anderson is likely to get at least one more turn in the rotation. That is lined up to come at home against Arizona early next week.

Fans seven in win over Cubs Anderson (3-0) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out seven.
Impact The veteran southpaw helped the Dodgers complete a sweep of the twin bill with arguably his best performance of the season so far, as Anderson tossed 56 of 80 pitches for strikes and struck out more than four batters for the first time in 2022. He'll take a 2.78 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB through 22.2 innings into his next start.
MAY 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Friday's matchup called off Anderson and the Dodgers won't play Friday against the Cubs due to inclement weather, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Anderson was named the starting pitcher for Friday's matchup, but he'll instead start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader while Clayton Kershaw takes the mound in the matinee, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. He's posted a 2.55 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 17.2 innings over four appearances (two starts) this year.

Dodgers get the best of Giants in first of many 2022 battles

The Dodgers swept the Giants this week, but the two teams figure to battle to the end again this season, Pedro Moura writes.

Dodgers get the best of Giants in first of many 2022 battles
Surrenders one run in win Anderson (2-0) picked up the win during Friday's 5-1 victory over Detroit, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Impact Making his second start in place of Andrew Heaney (shoulder), Anderson worked quickly through his five innings aside from a mini rally in the third that put one run on the board. This is the 32-year-old's first win as a starter, and he possesses a solid 2.79 ERA across 9.2 innings over the two appearances. Heaney has yet to resume throwing so Anderson appears on track to make at least one more turn through the rotation, likely next weekend against the Cubs.
APRIL 30, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Serviceable in first start Anderson didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Padres, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
Impact Anderson took Andrew Heaney's spot in the rotation and did just enough to keep Los Angeles within striking distance. He surrendered one run apiece in the second and third innings and was in line for the loss until Los Angeles rallied with two runs in the eighth to tie the game. The 32-year-old is a viable streamer for his next start, scheduled against the Tigers on Friday, as he'll most likely remain in the rotation as long as Heaney is shelved.
APRIL 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Joining rotation Saturday Manager Dave Roberts said Anderson will start Saturday's game against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 32-year-old has worked out of the bullpen in his first two appearances of 2022 but will enter the rotation Saturday in place of Andrew Heaney (shoulder), who was placed on the injured list. Anderson covered four innings and topped 55 pitches in both outings this season, so he figures to be limited to about 70-to-80 pitches in San Diego.
APRIL 20, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Could replace Heaney in rotation Anderson threw an extended bullpen session Wednesday and could be preparing to fill in for the injured Andrew Heaney (shoulder) in the rotation Saturday in San Diego, Fabian Ardaya...
Impact Anderson completed the session midway through the Dodgers' series finale with Atlanta, but he wasn't considered as an option to replace Tony Gonsolin, who was rolling at the time and ultimately tossed six shutout innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. The Dodgers will likely make Anderson available in relief if needed for Friday's game in San Diego, but assuming he goes unused, the southpaw makes for the most logical choice to take Heaney's turn in the rotation. Anderson had been stretching out for starting duty in spring training, and he's covered four innings in both of his relief appearances since the start of the season. He should be capable of giving the Dodgers five innings in a start if he's able to work efficiently.

APRIL 16, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Four innings in relief win Anderson (1-0) picked up the win during Friday's 3-1 victory over the Reds, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts in four innings.
Impact Making his second appearance of the season, Anderson allowed his lone run and all three baserunners in the sixth inning against the heart of Cincinnati's lineup. The 32-year-old lefty has now followed starter Tony Gonsolin in consecutive appearance and, if the trend sticks, is slated to pitch again on Wednesday against Atlanta.
APRIL 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
In line for piggyback role Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Anderson will likely begin the season as a piggyback bulk arm when needed, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact Anderson was in the mix for a starting role during spring training, but it appears as though Tony Gonsolin will win the team's fifth rotation spot while Andrew Heaney serves as a fill-in starter with Trevor Bauer (not injury related) on administrative leave. Anderson served exclusively as a starter with the Pirates and Mariners last year and posted a 4.53 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 167 innings. However, his fantasy value will take a hit if he ultimately serves as a long reliever this year.

Tyler Anderson arrives as a familiar face to Dodgers Signed as a free agent this week, Anderson has started against the Dodgers 15 times in his career — including one game that stands out.
MARCH 21, 2022 • DAILYNEWS.COM
Won't get qualifying offer Anderson will not be tendered a qualifying offer and will head to free agency, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact The Mariners like Anderson and are expected to try to sign him on the open market, but he's not good enough to require an $18.4 million deal. In 31 starts for Pittsburgh and Seattle, he posted a 4.53 ERA, as his strong 5.4 percent walk rate wasn't enough to make up for a low 19.1 percent strikeout rate and 35.1 percent groundball rate.
NOVEMBER 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Loses season finale Anderson (7-11) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks across 1.2 innings, taking the loss to the Angels on Sunday.
Impact Anderson surrendered a leadoff home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning, and the Angels mustered a pair of runs in each of the first two frames. The right-hander was quickly pulled after just 37 pitches, as Seattle was fighting for a wild card spot. However, the Angels maintained the lead and Anderson was stuck with the final loss of the season. The 31-year-old finished with a 4.81 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 63.2 innings.

Anderson expected to start for Seattle against Los Angeles

The Mariners will roll out Tyler Anderson to the mound Sunday and the Angels plan to give Reid Detmers the start
OCTOBER 3, 2021 • Associated Press
Four innings in no-decision Anderson got a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Oakland, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts in four innings.
Impact Manager Scott Servais opted to go with a shortened rotation during the season's final week which is why Anderson got the nod for Tuesday's contest after starting Saturday's loss to the Angels. The goal was clearly for Anderson to go as deep as possible with a limited pitch count as the lefty tossed 40 of 46 pitches for strikes. The approach was effective too with the lone run coming on a Chad Pinder home run. Following the current trend, it wouldn't be surprising to see Anderson take the hill during the upcoming weekend series against the Angels in a limited capacity.
SEPTEMBER 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Starting on short rest Anderson is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Athletics in Seattle, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Seattle looks set to shorten its rotation to four men for the final week of the season as it attempts to secure a wild-card berth. The struggling Yusei Kikuchi is expected to move to the bullpen, while Anderson will return to the hill on three days' rest to take the hill Tuesday. In his last start Saturday against the Angels, Anderson was blasted for nine runs over two innings, but because the lefty tossed only 54 pitches in that outing, he may not face significant restrictions with his workload versus Oakland.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Hit hard by Angels Anderson (7-10) took the loss in Saturday's 14-1 defeat at the hands of the Angels, allowing nine runs on nine hits and a walk in two innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Impact Anderson was hammered early and often Saturday, permitting two runs in the first inning, one in the second and six in the third before being pulled. The poor start comes on the heels of two straight one-run outings and marks Anderson's first start allowing more than four runs in 11 starts since being acquired from Pittsburgh.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Ties season-high mark in strikeouts Anderson (7-9) earned the win Monday against the Athletics after tossing seven innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and a walk while fanning seven.
Impact Anderson matched his season-best output in strikeouts while also allowing just one run for the second straight start, and he seems to be gearing up for a strong end of the regular season. He has allowed three or fewer runs in eight of his nine appearances since the beginning of August, posting a 3.20 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP in that span.

Decent in short start Anderson got a no-decision during Tuesday's 8-4 loss at the hands of the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
Impact Making his return from the bereavement list, Anderson made quick work of Boston's lineup the first time through the order but had some issues on the second go-around, which prompted his early removal. The 31-year-old has now failed to reach five innings in his last two starts, though he received no-decisions in each outing. Anderson currently lines up to face Oakland early next week.

Anderson expected to start as Seattle hosts Boston

The Mariners will send Tyler Anderson to the mound Tuesday and the Red Sox plan to give Nathan Eovaldi the start
SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 • Associated Press
Back with team The Mariners reinstated Anderson from the bereavement list Sunday.
Impact Anderson returns in time to make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Red Sox. The lefty has a 3.83 ERA and 34:7 K:BB in 44.2 innings since being dealt to Seattle.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Moves to bereavement list Anderson was placed on the bereavement list Thursday.
Impact Anderson should return to the team in time to make his next scheduled start against Boston on Tuesday, so the transaction isn't expected to have an impact on the Mariners' rotation. Infielder Kevin Padlo will come up from Triple-A Tacoma to take Anderson's roster spot during the weekend series against the Diamondbacks.
