Impact This was a smooth outing with plenty of cushion for Beck, who helped the Giants spare their bullpen after they used eight pitches in Friday's 11-inning contest. This is the second time Beck's gone three-plus innings to earn a save this season. He's been an effective long-relief option for San Francisco with a 3.31 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB over 35.1 innings in his first big-league season. He also has a win and a hold through 14 appearances.

Impact Beck will take the roster spot of Wilmer Flores after Flores was placed on the injured list with a foot bruise. In his previous appearance with the Giants, Beck allowed two runs -- one earned -- over 4.1 innings versus the Cubs on June 11. He'll be a multi-inning relief option while with the major-league club.

Impact Beck covered 4.1 innings over two relief appearances during the Giants' series with the Cubs this past weekend and wasn't likely to be available for the next couple of days, so San Francisco opted to swap him off the 26-man active roster for a fresh relief arm in Keaton Winn, who was called up from Triple-A. During his upcoming stint with Sacramento, Beck is expected to transition back into a starting role in the event he's needed in the San Francisco rotation later in 2023.

Impact Beck will rejoin the Giants as a replacement on the active roster for lefty Alex Wood, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a back strain. The Giants haven't named formal replacements in the rotation for Wood or Ross Stripling (back), but Sean Manaea should be the top candidate to fill one of those starting roles, while Jakob Junis or Beck look like the top contenders for the other spot. Beck pitched well over three extended relief appearances with San Francisco prior to being sent down to Triple-A and pitched an inning for Sacramento on Saturday before being recalled.

Impact Outfielder Austin Slater (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will join the active roster as a replacement for Beck, who was expendable since the Giants already have three other relievers on hand capable of covering multiple innings in Ryan Walker, Jakob Junis and Sean Manaea. Beck will presumably slot back into the Sacramento rotation after he looked sharp over his final three extended relief appearances with the Giants, covering nine innings and allowing just one run on two hits and no walks while striking out 10.

Impact Milwaukee offered little resistance in this one, and Beck tossed an efficient 33 pitches (26 strikes) to close out the victory. The 26-year-old rookie has held the opposition scoreless in only four of his nine appearances since his promotion in late April, however, and his 4.63 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB through 23.1 innings don't suggest he's going to see regular higher-leverage work any time soon.
