Will see playing time at first base Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday that Lipscomb will play a good amount of first base as Joey Gallo shifts to right field, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Gallo has been the team's regular first baseman, but he will receive reps in right field now with Lane Thomas (knee) sidelined indefinitely. Lipscomb will play multiple positions, per Martinez, but he is starting at first base Wednesday in Atlanta and could receive the lion's share of starts there for the time being. The 23-year-old posted a .563 OPS with one home run and four stolen bases over 14 games with the Nationals earlier this month.

Impact Lipscomb got regular at-bats at third base while Nick Senzel was on the injured list, but with Senzel back in action Lipscomb will head back to Rochester to play every day. The 23-year-old has slashed .224/.278/.286 with one home run and four stolen bases over 14 games with the big club.

Officially selected to MLB roster The Nationals selected Lipscomb's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Lipscomb will officially get his first look in the majors after Nick Senzel (thumb) landed on the injured list Saturday. The 23-year-old prospect was only able to reach Double-A last season, but a .400/.455/.540 slash line during spring training makes it reasonable to think he can find early success in the majors. Lipscomb is capable of playing across the infield but will likely play most often at third base as Senzel's replacement.

Lipscomb is capable of playing any infield position and appeared primarily at second base in the exhibition season.
