Impact Demeritte was claimed off waivers from the Tigers in mid-February but didn't last long on his new team's 40-man roster. He'll remain an organizational depth option in Atlanta but is now one step further from returning to the big leagues.

Sent to alternate training site Demeritte was optioned to Detroit's alternate training site Thursday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Impact Demeritte will be sent down to make room for Harold Castro (hamstring), who's set to be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game against Cleveland. Demeritte has struggled to a .172/.273/.207 slash line over 18 contests this season.
