Activated and optioned The Twins activated Adams (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul.

Impact Adams has been shelved all season with a triceps injury but has made five rehab appearances in relief, allowing six runs with an 8:3 K:BB over six innings. The last three of those outings came at St. Paul, and the Twins will keep him there rather than put him on the big-league roster.

Cleared for rehab assignment Adams (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers on Wednesday, Theodore Tollefson of Zone Coverage reports.

Impact Adams has been sidelined all season with a triceps issue that first popped up in early March. Given the long layoff, he's sure to require multiple rehab starts before the Twins decide to add him to the big-league roster or keep him in the minors.

The 26-year-old had surrendered two earned runs on two hits and two walks over 2.2 innings through his first three Grapefruit League outings, and his poor numbers coupled with the elbow issue could be enough to keep him from winning a spot in the Twins' Opening Day bullpen.
