Santiago Espinal - X-rays negative on wrist Espinal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, but X-rays on his bruised right wrist returned negative, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
Impact Espinal was fortunate to avoid any structural damage to his wrist after being hit by a pitch in Saturday's 3-2 loss, but he may be down for a day or two while he waits for the bruising to subside. The Blue Jays still have Cavan Biggio on hand as a utility infielder if Espinal isn't available off the bench.

Carlos Rodón - Plays catch Sunday Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Rodon (back) played catch before Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Boone also told reporters that the plan is for Rodon to continue with his throwing program this week, and that a bullpen would be the next step for the southpaw. Rodon has yet to be able to make his debut for the Yankees because of a forearm strain and now a back injury, and because of his lengthy absence he'll likely need a long rehab before returning to the rotation for New York near the end of May at the earliest.

Willie Calhoun - Sitting versus righty Calhoun is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact The lefty-hitting Calhoun was on the bench when the Yankees opposed southpaws Thursday and Friday, but he'll find himself out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus a right-hander (Kevin Gausman). With Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) and Josh Donaldson (hamstring) both on the injured list, Calhoun looked like he might have a clear path to regular playing time versus righties, but he's turned in a wretched .136/.208/.182 slash line since being promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 8. Rather than handing regular starts to the struggling Calhoun, manager Aaron Boone looks as though he may prefer to rotate a number of players in the designated-hitter spot.
